Father Allegedly Threatened to Cut Throats of Daughter's High School Bullies: Police

A father was arrested last week after allegedly threatening violence against his teen daughter's bullies, according to police.

Thomas Brown of Wichita Falls, Texas, was arrested on Thursday and faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by KAUZ-TV. Police received multiple calls about him following an alleged confrontation with a group of teen girls.

Prior to the incident, Brown's daughter reportedly told him that she had recently been bullied by a group of girls at Wichita Falls High School. Brown claimed to have been in contact with the school's principal, "in hopes of getting the issue resolved," according to the affidavit.

On the day of the incident, Brown's daughter called to tell him that the girls were chasing her, prompting him to meet her near the high school's parking lot, the affidavit says.

Brown then approached the group of girls that had allegedly been bullying his daughter and threatened that he would "slit their throats if they touched his daughter." After one of the girls doubted that he would actually do so, Brown allegedly took out a pocket knife and held it about six inches from the girl's throat. Multiple witnesses backed up this description of the incident, according to the arrest affidavit.

When later confronted by officers responding to the scene, Brown told them that he was likely going to jail. The officers said that the father spoke freely about what happened and showed them the pocket knife and physically re-enacted the incident.

Officers also spoke with the girl that Brown allegedly threatened.

"The victim said as Brown put the knife up to her neck, she pushed his arm away with her hand, as well as put her knee up in between them in order to separate herself from him," the arrest affidavit described. "The victim told me that she feared for her life during the incident and that she believed Brown was going to slit her throat."

Brown was initially booked at the Wichita County Jail and was released on Friday on a $10,000 bond. Newsweek reached out to the Wichita Falls Police Department but did not hear back in time for publication.

Wichita Falls is a city of roughly 104,000 in Wichita County. It is roughly 140 miles northwest of Dallas near the Oklahoma border.
