You're a teenage boy sneaking back into your house at night through a window with six friends, what could possibly go wrong? Your dad setting up a genius trap to stop you in your tracks, maybe.

That's exactly what happened for the son of TikTok user and father @rhythmlessman who used technology in the home to his advantage.

Five days ago, the father posted his Ring camera footage of the trap with the Mission Impossible theme song, and gained over three million likes for it. In the footage, his son can be spotted climbing through the window with six friends behind him.

It all comes crashing down however when the lights flicked on and the Alexa began speaking to the teens.

"Hi Jesse. Next time, just say you want to go out, so you don't need to climb through a window with all your friends," read the Alexa. "I hope you had fun, were safe and didn't c*** your pants when I started talking."

"I may go viral on TikTok with this. Thanks for the content," he successfully predicted through Alexa.

The prank seemed to be received well by the son, who jokingly told the camera: "I love you, but f*** you."

"That's one of the funniest things i've seen," added one of the friends, who all were left uncontrollably laughing at the situation.

The video can also be seen in full here.

As explained in a follow-up video, the trap was actually constructed pretty simply. All that was needed was two wi-fi lamps, a decoy camera and a paired Alexa.

"[I] opened up Alexa, created what's called a routine which is super easy —it's just a bunch of if/when statements.

"Basically, it said: if the decoy camera detected any motion, wait 15 seconds – 'cause I wanted the kids to get in the window – then turn both lamps on to high brightness and then speak," he said.

The decoy camera, which detected the motion, was placed on a table by the window, and caught immediately by the son who knocked it over.

Although the video was widely met with positivity, with over 13 million views, some criticised Jesse's cursing, which was swiftly addressed in a comment by his father.
"This is our relationship. We all curse in our family. He's not cursing at me, he's giving props for busting him creatively," he explained.

While other comments ranged all the way from claiming the the technique wasn't strict enough while busting him, to those claiming that he was being too strict by not allowing him to sneak in.

Many however pointed out that the trap was light-hearted, and not designed to be a harsh punishment. "I love the fact that you showed him and his friends that it's easier to have open communication and trust. Even if it was sneaky," wrote one user.

Newsweek has contacted @rhythmlessman for comment.
