February's full moon, also known as the Snow Moon, peaked on Wednesday, and photographers around the world were ready to snap spectacular images of this celestial event.
Don't worry if you missed the peak illumination of the Snow Moon at 11:59 a.m. ET, according to NASA moon gazers have until February 18 to capture the moon in its almost full glory.

The Old Farmer's Almanac says that the name "Snow Moon" reflects the harsh weather conditions of February, with the first use attributed to Captain Jonathan Carver in the mid-1700s. One of the early explorers of North America, Carver who was the author of many travel guides, wrote the term was used because "more snow commonly falls during this month than any other in the winter."
Data from the National Weather Service confirms that February is indeed on average the snowiest month in the United States, according to The Old Farmer's Almanac.
A Twitter user by the name of Darshan's Assertions shared this suitably frosty-looking image of the moon taken from Atlanta, Georgia, to a NASA thread full moon image thread.

Also in the United States, a photographer caught a stunning image of the almost full-Snow Moon over the Empire State Building as the sun sets, from Hoboken, New Jersey.

Twitter user Coko caught an image of the snow moon in Florida framed behind the bare branches of a tree.
Our #SnowMoon beneath our trees. 51° here in North Florida. It was a wonderful morning for this view. This one at 6:45am. #NaturePhotography #nature #photography #amaturephotography #florida #TwitterNatureCommunity #moonphotography #moon #ThePhotoHour pic.twitter.com/oE3MfTMBcI

A striking image of the Snow Moon was captured in Panama City. In the image, the moon is seen in such detail that its features can be distinguished.

The following image shows the moon, albeit in less detail, over the Defensores del Chaco stadium in Asunción, the capital and largest city of Paraguay. Soccer fans were gathered at the stadium to watch a Copa Libertadores game between Paraguay's Olimpia and Peru's César Vallejo.
The Snow Moon, seen to take a red hue due to the pollution of the city, wasn't a good omen for César Vallejo, which lost the game by two goals.

Further North in Canada, Twitter user, and author Robert Budd—who goes by the name Lucky Budd—caught this image of the Snow Moon.
Budd told Newsweek about how he captures impressive moon images: "I do all my imaging on an alt-az mount, so the best preparation is making sure I have great balance.
"Then I check the weather report to see when the clear window will be available, I find a great spot to make sure that my level on the scope is spot on."

Twitter user Jamal Nasir who goes by the handle the Moon Guy on the social media platform captured the Snow Moon at moonrise as seen from Pakistan. The images are especially impressive as Nasir says he caught the last two from a moving car!

Nasir explained his usual procedure for snapping the moon to Newsweek: "When the moon is visible I usually use manual focus, zoom in to the max and then slowly focus it until the image is the sharpest.
"Then I take multiple moon shots by changing my camera settings. The rest is some post-editing process."
Nasir has advice for budding moon photographers who may want to capture some images of March's Worm Moon, which peaks at 3:17 a.m. ET on March 18. He told Newsweek: "The best advice is to keep taking pictures and try changing your camera settings. Capturing the moon is all about practice and experience.
"Because there is no particular setting to capture the moon it depends on the surroundings. Different settings at moonrise, different at moon sets. So don't give and never let equipment be a barrier in photography."
