Security camera footage shared by South Brunswick police shows the shocking moment an airborne car crashed into the side of a New Jersey Wendy's on Monday. The building was badly damaged, but no serious injuries were reported. Police say they are still investigating the cause of the crash.

Around 1 p.m. Monday, a car headed southbound on a major highway suddenly exited the road and drove across the grass of a business, the police said in an official statement. Next, the car hit a berm on Wendy's property, causing the vehicle to go airborne. Once airborne, the car launched across the parking lot and crashed into the side of the Wendy's.

In its descent, the vehicle also struck another car that was waiting in the drive-thru and nearly hit a family dining outside. Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt.

The police department shared the footage to its Twitter account Thursday.

"MIRACLE - Crash Video shows Monday's accident at @Wendys where a vehicle launched over a berm into the restaurant," the department tweeted. "Angle 1 (Drive-thru) shows the vehicle coming over the berm. Angle 2 (Front of store) car land on table next to a table with family eating. No serious injuries."

Officials say that the crash caused the windows to shatter, sending shards of glass into the crowded restaurant. No one inside was injured, but the restaurant has since been closed pending an examination.

"This is nothing short of a miracle that no one was seriously injured or killed in this crash," said South Brunswick Chief Raymond Hayducka. "To think it was the middle of the day, people were eating both inside and outside and none of them were injured. The building was damaged to the point it can't be used but everyone eating was able to walk away."

The driver responsible for the crash was pulled from the vehicle and transported to a nearby hospital, where it was last reported that they were in stable condition.

South Brunswick Police are still investigating the crash; however, early indications are that the driver of the airborne vehicle "suffered a medical episode" behind the wheel.

Sadly, this isn't the first car to crash into a restaurant this year.

In May, multiple people were hospitalized after a car plowed into the outdoor seating area of a Philadelphia restaurant. In March, seven people were injured after a van struck another car, causing it to crash into an outdoor dining area in Manhattan.
