Former NFL Running Back Charged in Armed Theft of Rolex

Former Miami Dolphin Mark Walton was arrested Tuesday night, accused in a gunpoint robbery over a Rolex watch, police said.

The ex-NFL running back, who has a history of arrests, was charged with armed robbery with a firearm, and initially denied bond, the Miami Herald reported.

An arrest report from the Miami-Dade Police Department stated that on February 4, Walton and another suspect used Walton's black Honda Accord to block the path of a man as he attempted to enter his parked car.

Police said the man, who has not been publicly identified, told officers that Walton rolled down his window and pointed a gun at him, telling him to "give me the bands."

According to the Herald, police said the passenger in Walton's car then got out of the vehicle and wrestled the man to the ground, ripping the Rolex off his wrist before the man managed to escape.

Police said they tracked Walton to his apartment in North Miami-Dade and made the arrest Tuesday. In his apartment, officers found the handgun as well as a red hoodie that he was identified as having worn during the robbery, police said.

No information about the other suspect's whereabouts is available.

Walton starred with the University of Miami Hurricanes before being drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2018. According to the Herald, he was arrested three times in the first year of his contract with the Bengals, once on a minor marijuana charge, then on a misdemeanor battery charge, and lastly with felony counts of carrying a concealed weapon, marijuana possession and reckless driving after a high-speed police chase on March 12, 2019, police said.

The Bengals cut Walton that April, and after being picked up by the Dolphins, he was suspended by the NFL for "four games for violating the league's substance abuse policy," according to the league.

Walton was cut by the Dolphins after being arrested again in November 2019, accused of repeatedly punching his pregnant girlfriend, police said. He was placed on a no-contact order and was arrested in 2020 for violating it, according to police.
