A Fox News poll released Wednesday showed that GOP Senator Martha McSally is in danger of losing her seat in Arizona.

The poll showed that 50 percent of 1,002 Arizona voters would vote for McSally's Democrat challenger Mark Kelly over the Republican senator in the upcoming special election. McSally only got support from 37 percent of voters.

Another eight percent of voters said they were undecided as of yet. Their support would be key for McSally as she hopes to gain ground on Kelly. Another two percent said they would not vote. The margin of error for the poll was plus or minus three percent.

The poll results are similar to a May 19 poll by OH Predictive Insights that surveyed 600 likely voters. It saw Kelly getting 51 percent of voter support compared to 38 percent for McSally.

McSally was appointed to the U.S. Senate seat by Governor Doug Ducey following the death of Senator John McCain in 2018--and after former Republican Senator Jon Kyl, who was originally appointed, stepped down after only serving for three months.

The former Air Force commander now looks to retain the seat in the November 3 special election, which is a crucial for Republicans to maintain their majority in the Senate, which currently stands at 53 to 47. The other Arizona Senate seat is held by Democrat Kyrsten Sinema, who McSally lost to in the state's 2018 Senate race.

The Fox News poll also showed that former Vice President Joe Biden has a slight lead over President Donald Trump, but just within the margin of error. Forty-six percent of Arizona voters said they would cast their ballots for Biden in the general election, while 42 percent said they would vote for Trump.

Trump did get the edge over Biden when it came to the economy, as 48 percent of voters indicated they believe the president would do a better job over the presumptive Democratic nominee, who only got 41 percent of support on this issue.

Biden got more support when it came to dealing with the coronavirus. Forty-six percent of voters think Biden would do a better job in handling the pandemic than Trump, who received support from 39 percent of voters. Fifty percent of voters also believe that Biden would do a better job on race relations, compared to 34 percent who felt that Trump would do a better job.

Newsweek reached out to McSally's office for comments on the Fox News poll, but did not get a response back in time for publication.
