Fox News personality Greg Gutfeld fired off an "f you" at Democrats for promoting a "phony narrative" about the January 6th Capitol riot on the one-year anniversary of the attack.

Gutfeld made the remark in response to President Joe Biden's speech about the riot. In the speech, Biden condemned former President Donald Trump for spreading "a web of lies" that inspired the attack by falsely claiming that his 2020 election loss was due to massive voter fraud. The current president also took aim at the rioters by saying, "you can't love your country only when you win," and urged Americans to "recognize the truth and to live by it."

After a clip of Biden's speech played on Thursday's episode of The Five, a visibly angry Gutfeld contended that Democrats were trying to turn the riot "into Pearl Harbor" or 9/11 while bemoaning that they would not treat the "crimes" they committed due to 2020 Black Lives Matter protests or "riots" after Trump was elected in 2016 in a similar manner. He warned that Democrats wanted to make the yearly anniversary "permanent" as a way to target "political enemies."

"You can't commemorate their crimes, because then you'll realize how little the media and the Democrats cared about your actual suffering during those riots," Gutfeld said. "So they do this to place a target on the backs of their political enemies—the rubes. And they're doing it as a coordinated effort and they want this thing to be permanent. Every year we are going to have to do that. I say no, f you."

When The Five co-host Dana Perino stumbled over her words following Gutfeld's rant, he clarified that he "didn't say the actual word." Gutfeld then claimed that "f stands for forget Dana, I said forget" while co-host Jesse Watters chuckled.

Earlier in the rant, Gutfeld maintained that Democrats were "working in tandem with the media" to unfairly mark the anniversary of the riot, which left multiple people dead or injured. He suggested that "the majority of Americans" would agree that the anniversary of the attack was not "valuable" enough to warrant notice.

"As usual, the Democrats are working in tandem with the media," said Gutfeld. "How can you not see this coordinated effort, when you see everyone involved including the cast of Hamilton, for God's sake. Why are we—probably the majority of Americans—letting anyone dictate a phony narrative under the guise of an anniversary?"

"Unless it's the anniversary of Ashli Babbitt's murder," he added. "Because that's more valuable than anything we listened to today."

Babbitt, one of the pro-Trump rioters who breached the Capitol, was fatally shot by a Capitol Police officer on January 6, 2021, while attempting to climb through a broken window to enter an area where lawmakers had gathered outside the House chamber despite being warned to stand back.

While Gutfeld referred to her "murder," the officer who shot Babbitt was cleared of any wrongdoing following investigations by the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department and the Department of Justice. Regardless, Babbitt's death and claims that she was "murdered" have remained popular topics for some on the right.
