'Friends' Fan Spots Scene Where Monica's Double Appears on Screen

A Friends fan has claimed there is an episode where you can clearly see Monica's stand-in instead of her.

The woman, who called herself mumandmore4, shared a clip to TikTok pointing out the error.

"I know there is so many mistakes in Friends but I have never seen this one before," she wrote.

She films her laptop as she rewinds the episode, showing Phoebe, played by Lisa Kudrow, chatting to Monica, played by Courteney Cox, chatting on the sofa in Central Perk.

She said: "So I've been watching Friends, and this is the episode where Phoebe is dating Monica's sous chef. And I just noticed this little blunder. That's not Monica, that's not Monica!"

The gaffe is seen in episode 5 of season 8, called "The One With Rachel's Date," and the plot follows Phoebe's attempts to dump Monica's colleague, Tim.

As the women chat about Tim's recent escapades in the kitchen, when he set someone on fire, the camera angles switch from Phoebe to Monica.

But as the shot changes, she pauses the episode and points to the profile of Monica—which isn't Cox at all.

It seems classic 90s sitcoms are all suffering a similar fate, due to how TV sizes have changed over the years.

Explaining why so many stand-ins, microphones and other background items appear in our beloved TV shows, Michael Lowrimore said: "It's only cause the show was originally filmed for box TVs 20 years ago (4:3). They made them HD/widescreen so now these errors show up."

MommaColls agreed, saying: "It was out of frame when it first aired and now it's widescreen so you will see loads of these."

Another fan spotted a similar glitch, with Ross Larkin revealing: "The episode of Monica and Ross' parents 50 wedding anniversary where they do the same with their dad."

TikToker Stephanie revealed: "If you watch the episode where Chandler cleans the apartment you can see the camera and lighting lol."

Revealing another blunder, Ruth pointed out: "Yeah it happens a lot you can also see when sets end in some episodes like Monica's kitchen behind the coffeehouse."

And Sarah Hatfield wrote: "I just noticed that too, like 3 weeks ago!! I even have a video!"

Username commented: "I love that you caught this!"

While someone else wrote: "Sometimes when they're just filming one actor's lines (Phoebe) it's too expensive to have the other actor there so they hire a stand in. It's cheaper."
