The House of Representatives passed a bill that aims to provide services for pregnant and post-partum veterans on Thursday in a bipartisan vote as the chamber approved a total of five bills relating to veterans.

The DOULA for VA Act of 2022 was approved by a vote of 376 to 44, while four other pieces of legislation designed to support and honor U.S. military veterans were also passed. Twelve members did not vote.

Forty-four Republican members of the House voted against the legislation, which had been introduced by Democratic Representative Brenda Lawrence and would require the secretary of veterans affairs "to establish a pilot program to furnish doula services to veterans."
