Godzilla Vs. Kong is the first time the giant ape and nuclear-charged reptile have faced off since the 1960s. Battle 1
The first Godzilla vs. Kong battle take place at sea. Nathan Lind (played by Alexander Skarsgård) embarks on an exhibition with Kong for the shadowy Apex Corporation, which sends them to the entry point to the Hollow Earth, a space within the Earth he believes is Kong's true home.
However, Godzilla takes issue with Kong encroaching on his territory. The pair battle, and though they seem to be evenly matched, Godzilla quickly overcomes the giant ape. In fact, he is only stopped from taking Kong's life by some quick thinking from the expedition, who turn off all their weapons to make Godzilla think he has won.

Battle 2
For their next bout, Kong weapons up to make their fight more evenly matched. Kong is airlifted into the Hollow Earth, and finds a throne there, plus an ax made out of one of Godzilla's scales.
Godzilla continues to hunt down Kong, firing his atomic breath at him from the surface of the earth. The pair battle again, and Kong is able to gain the upper hand thanks to his new weapon. Kong wins this round, but the citizens of Hong Kong very much lose as Godzilla sets off his atomic breath in the territory.

Battle 3
For their third bout, both are much more evenly matched as their previous fights have left them tired and injured. However, Godzilla eventually takes the upper hand, and beats Kong until he is close to death. He even stomps on Kong's chest to make his victory final.
Battle result: Godzilla 2 - Kong 1. Godzilla is the winner...
...until a new threat emerges.
Not content with letting the monsters take each other out, Apex creates a robot version of the giant reptile, Mechagodzilla. He is powered by the neural network of Ghidorah, the monster that Godzilla defeated in King of the Monsters, however, this robot takes on a life of its own, attacking it makers before going to take on Godzilla.
Luckily for Godzilla, a former enemy becomes a threat to take on this new giant threat. The humans use atomic energy to fire up Kong's failing heartbeat, and the ape joins forces with Godzilla to take on the new Mecha version.
Just as MechaGodzilla seems ready to use his laser eyes to take out both of them, Josh (Julian Dennison) manages to fry the robot's systems, giving Godzilla and Kong time to strike. Godzilla uses his breath to power-up Kong's ax, and MechaGodzilla is defeated. Thus, humans, Godzilla and Kong have to work together.
After a film full of battles, the giants reach a truce. Godzilla retreats to the sea, while Kong takes the throne of the Hollow Earth...meaning he is now officially King Kong.
