Senior Golden Retriever Greeting Old Neighbor Every Morning Melts Hearts

A video highlighting the sweet friendship between an 11-year-old golden retriever and her elderly neighbor has been giving viewers that warm fuzzy feeling inside.

Maisy's bond with Richard, a 90-year-old resident of a nearby retirement village, first caught the eye after the dog's owner shared a selection of clips to TikTok under the handle mspeelhmb.

In the most popular video, which has been viewed 1.4 million times, Maisy can be seen wagging her tail and low growling in excitement as Richard makes his way towards her with the help of a rollator.

In 2021, the American Kennel Club used registration data to compile a list of the country's most popular dog breeds. In the list of 197 breeds, golden retrievers ranked third overall, just behind labrador retrievers and French bulldogs.

The popularity of the golden retriever can be attributed, in part, to their sociable, outgoing attitude and eagerness to please.

In the clips, he can be seen moving at a steady pace, evidently eager to greet his canine pal, and waving as Maisy and her owner come into view—to the delight of the TikTok viewers who have left messages of appreciation for the two buddies.

Shauna Seymore was taken with the way they interacted like "a couple of old friends" while Sara Mason was delighted by the sight of "two seniors loving each other."
