The Good Doctor Season 4 is the latest network drama to release a trailer. Though production on the ABC medical drama was delayed by the actual medical crisis of the coronavirus, the show will start releasing new episodes this November. COVID-19 will be the focus of the plot of the first episode, which will also include a new batch of cast members including The Real O'Neals star Noah Galvin. The promo for Season 4 also sees the characters grieving the loss of Dr. Neil Melendez (Nicholas Gonzalez).
When does The Good Doctor Season 4 start?
The premiere of Season 4 is set for Monday, November 2, when the ABC show will be in its usual timeslot of 10 p.m. ET / 9 p.m. CT. As usual, episodes will be available to watch on the ABC website and app after they have aired on the channel.
The premiere of Season 4, "Frontline," is a two-parter, which will air its two parts on Nov 2 and 9 respectively. So far, the show has not revealed its episode count for Season 4.
Who is in the cast of The Good Doctor Season 4?
All of the following actors/characters are returning for Season 4:
- Freddie Highmore as Shaun Murphy
- Antonia Thomas as Claire Browne
- Fiona Gubelmann as Morgan Reznick
- Will Yun Lee as Alex Park
- Christina Chang as Audrey Lim
- Paige Spara as Lea Dilallo

Sheila Kelly, the real-life wife of Richard Schiff, is also returning as a guest star as Glassman's wife Debbie Wexler.

The Good Doctor Season 4 will also see a number of first-years join the cast from Episode 3 onwards. Leading them in The Real O'Neals Noah Galvin as Asher Wolke, a former member of an Orthodox Jewish sect who has removed himself from that environment in order to go to medical school. His fellow residents will be Summer Brown (in her first TV role) as the overachieving but insecure Olivia Jackson, Bria Samoné Henderson (Mrs. America) as the committed Baptist Jordan Allen and Brian Marc (Luke Cage) as surfing doctor Enrique "Ricky" Guerin.
One actor, however, who will not be returning, is Nicholas Gonzalez, who played Melendez until his character died of injuries sustained in an earthquake in Season 3.
What will happen in The Good Doctor Season 4?
As seen in the promo, the show will start with a two-parter about the coronavirus pandemic, with new couple Shaun and Lea having to cope with their newly socially distanced relationship with Zoom dates and meetings on either side of Shaun's front door. COVID-19 is likely to be extra hard for the team St. Bonaventure Hospital, as they are having to deal with the challenges of the virus while also grieving the loss of Melendez.
The Good Doctor creator, however, has revealed that not all of Season 4 will be so focused on the pandemic. Speaking at New York Comic-Con, he said: "We wanted to pay tribute to the frontline workers... But we've been living with this so much, so much [over] the last six months. I do think we have a responsibility, as entertainers, to provide a little bit of an escape.
He added: "The rest of the season will not be about COVID. We're not going to be dishonest about it... There's going to be an awareness of it, but those are not the stories we are going to tell."
The Good Doctor Season 4 starts on Monday, November 2 on ABC.
