A dog owner has left the internet in stitches after sharing a grooming fail in a clip that has gone viral all over social media.
In the hilarious video, shared on TikTok in September under the username @vpotvin, the English springer spaniel called Charlotte can be seen coming home from the groomers. However, the owners were disappointed after grandma mistakenly got the spaniel's perfect curls cut.
The post comes with a caption that reads: "When grandma takes you to the groomer and forgets to mention NOT to cut the ears. RIP perfect curls." It is followed by: "Who's this dog?"
The People's Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA) website says that grooming your pet is essential for their health and well-being, but it is also a great way to bond with them.
The animal charity's website adds that, while some pets may require professional grooming due to their coat length and type, others can be trimmed at home, and some may need home grooming in between their professional sessions.
"Knowing which tools to use, and how often to groom your pet, can feel confusing, so we've pulled some tips together for you. Always speak to your vet or a professional, reputable groomer for advice specific to your pet," the PDSA website says.
How often you should groom your dog changes based on their breed and the length of their fur. Long-haired breeds such as bearded collies and Lhasa apsos need brushing daily to keep their coat healthy. Some of these long-haired breeds also need their coats trimmed or undercoats stripped around four to six times a year.
Medium-haired breeds such as spaniels and German shepherds will need brushing a few times a week to remove the dead hairs. Depending on the breed, the dogs may also need to get their coats trimmed or stripped a couple of times a year.
Short-haired breeds like Labradors and English bull terriers may need brushing only once a week, and they don't usually need regular haircuts.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 486,000 views and more than 13,000 likes on the platform.
One user, Jessie, commented: "As a groomer, there's no way I would have shaved them ears unless they [were] matted. Don't worry though they will soon grow back." And user8087188710783 posted: "Why do you have to say that as an owner? As a groomer, you should know that that breed has ears like that."
Andrea_ruefenacht wrote: "I like it better that way. Our Welsh springer spaniel looked like that." And Cassie Kelly commented: "Oh I would be so upset. Ears take so long to grow back." User phoebemillar3 added: "My mum TOLD the groomer to trim my dog's ears. never ever the same."
