Harry Styles is brushing off speculation of a feud between himself and Chris Pine by joking about "#Spitgate" from the 2022 Venice International Film Festival.
The pair broke the internet earlier this week as footage from the world premiere of Don't Worry Darling appeared to show Styles subtly spitting on Pine, with Pine reacting in a funny way.
Both Pine and Styles' team have strongly denied the incident calling it the "result of an odd online illusion."
Now Styles has returned back to work as a singer, he referred to the alleged spitting incident and even seemed to confirm that it happened, though he was very likely joking.

"This is our tenth show at Madison Square Garden, and it's wonderful wonderful wonderful to be back in New York," Styles announced to the excited New York City crowd on Wednesday night. The footage (see above) was captured by Twitter user @harrysbluevans_.
"I'd just popped very quickly to Venice to spit on Chris Pine," Styles said, and he paused as the crowd in Madison Square Garden cheered enthusiastically, before he eventually started laughing. "But fret not, we're back," Styles said.
The footage shot in Venice went viral online, with speculation that the alleged spit was related to the rumored feud between the cast mates of Don't Worry Darling.
The incident was shot from multiple angles and fans also wanted to hear from nearby audience members who may be able to confirm what actually happened. LINKS.
When contacted for comment, Styles representatives pointed to a statement made by Pine's representatives to People, where they had strongly denied that Pine was spit on.
"This is a ridiculous story—a complete fabrication and the result of an odd online illusion that is clearly deceiving and allows for foolish speculation," the statement from Pine's team said.
They continued: "Just to be clear, Harry Styles did not spit on Chris Pine. There is nothing but respect between these two men and any suggestion otherwise is a blatant attempt to create drama that simply does not exist."
The video footage of Styles addressing the alleged spit was widely shared across Twitter, with thousands of fans weighing in.
"One thing about Harry is he'll always have the last laugh," wrote @grapejuicekiwi, while countless other fans wrote variations of "I love him."
Others were less complimentary in their assessment of Styles and his joke. Some Twitter users started commenting "We don't care" seemingly in an attempt to move the news agenda on. "Whole world was talking about the fake incident and now they're like "we don't care" YOU DO," said @wmsangel.
