On Tuesday, May 26, Hulu dropped the first trailer for Love Victor, the sequel series to the 2018 film Love, Simon. According to IMDb, the series follows Victor, a new student at Creekwood High School, "on his own journey of self-discovery, facing challenges at home, adjusting to a new city, and struggling with his sexual orientation."
Micheal Cimino (Annabelle Comes Home) stars as the titular character. Other actors part of the star-studded cast include Ana Ortiz (Ugly Betty, Whiskey Cavalier), James Martinez (The Deuce, One Day at A Time), Isabella Ferreira (Joker, Orange is the New Black), Rachel Naomi Hilson (This is Us, The Good Wife), Anthony Turpel (The Bold and the Beautiful), Mason Gooding (Booksmart), along with newcomer Mateo Fernandez.
The 2018 film was based on Becky Albertalli's acclaimed novel, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. The coming-of-age book and film were praised for its LBGTQ inclusivity about a closeted gay teenager named Simon growing up outside of Atlanta.
The spinoff sequel series takes place in the same world as Love, Simon. This time around, Victor seeks guidance from Simon as he tries to figure out who he is (as many 16-year-olds do). Simon previously wrote to a mysterious crush in the 2018 film.

Love, Simon's writers Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger have returned for Love, Victor as executive producers. Additionally, there will be Love, Simon cameos throughout the 10-episode series.
The show was originally going to be part of Disney Plus when it was announced in April 2019. However, in February it was announced that the show shifted to Hulu due to its "adult themes" that didn't fit into the family-oriented streaming service's content.
The Hollywood Reporter noted that the series includes alcohol use and marital issues for parent characters, in addition to sexual exploration. Disney executives also felt that Love, Victor was better suited along with other YA Hulu content such as Looking for Alaska and PEN15.
All 10 episodes of Love, Victor will be available to stream on Hulu starting June 19.
