"Herschel today talked about the time he was admitted to a psychiatric hospital: 'They told me I had a mental problem," political commentator Ron Filipkowski wrote as a caption alongside the video.
"I remember sitting here in this hospital and in saying, 'Whoa, these people here are crazy, and I'm not like them."
It is not clear when and where Walker was when he made these comments.
"When you are speaking God's name, Satan knows your playbook. So he will try and sneak in on it, he tried to sneak in on me." Walker said.
"I love the Lord Jesus and I'm not ashamed to admit it but all of a sudden they told me I had a mental problem.
"'Mental problem? How does Herschel Walker have a mental problem?' [I said].
"I'm talking about myself in the third person, I know that," he added causing the crowd to begin laughing.
He continued: "Then all of a sudden I go, 'I never drink, because you see people who have mental problems they drink, they are on alcohol, they are on drugs or something.'"
The video then cuts to a later portion of Walker's speech as he reflects on his experience.
"I started seeing doctors and stuff and decided to go to the hospital, I remember sitting in this hospital and going, whoa these people here are crazy. These people here are crazy and I am not like them," he said.
"All of a sudden, as I am sitting there, I realize we all for short of the glory of God.
"I am identical to them but what I am doing is, I got full of myself because I was winning everything and doing everything.
"Even though I was speaking God's name I was not leading God's life."
The former NFL star has spoken about his mental health struggles publicly for many years and highlighted his personal struggles in his autobiography.
In his book, he discussed having Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and how it has impacted his life.
Walker is also currently dealing with a backlash from voters and other Republicans over comments made by his son, Christian Walker.
In addition to this, he has faced allegations that he paid an ex-girlfriend to get an abortion.
Walker, who is standing on an anti-abortion platform, has strongly denied the report in The Daily Beast on Monday, saying he intends to sue the publication.
Newsweek has contacted Walker for comment.
