Fans of HBO's House of the Dragon are posting on social media what they claim is evidence of a CGI blunder on the show.
In episode three of the hit Game of Thrones spin-off, which aired on Sunday, King Viserys Targaryen is revealed to be missing a couple of fingers. The lost appendages could be linked to an injury Viserys was seeking treatment for in the previous episode, which saw his hand placed in a pile of live maggots to eat away at his infected skin.
However, some viewers said they caught a mistake on the part of the show's visual arts department: A partial green glove worn by actor Paddy Considine, who plays Viserys, can be seen in pictures posted on Twitter. The glove covering two of Considine's fingers would ostensibly function as a green screen, which is used to lay CGI effects over.
Twitter user Sarah Capps posted a screenshot of what she said was a moment when the glove was visible.

Elsewhere in the episode, the background was patched in over the "missing" fingers by the show's visual artists.

For many GoT fans, the glove incident brought to mind another infamous visual mistake that occurred during the original show's run. In the final season of Thrones, a takeout coffee cup could be spotted in front of Daenerys Targaryen during a dinner scene.
The coffee cup was used as further ammunition by critics who charged that the last season of the show was too rushed to its conclusion. Even Emilia Clarke, who portrayed Daenerys, has publicly addressed the cup on more than one occasion.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show in 2019, Clarke blamed the beverage container's appearance in the scene on co-star Conleth Hill, who played Lord Varys. Two years later, she changed her story while speaking with theSkimm and blamed D. B. Weiss, co-creator and showrunner of Game of Thrones.
Another star of the HBO fantasy series, Sophie Turner, named co-star Kit Harington as the coffee cup culprit.
On a 2019 episode of TBS' Conan, Turner said, "It's good to know the coffee cup got more press than the final season altogether. The coffee cup was where Kit's chair was. At first I blamed it on Emilia, but I don't think Emilia would do that. Kit is lazy, and I think he would've done that."
About the latest reported CGI mishap, one person tweeted in reply to Capps, "Seems Thrones is prone to little set mishaps. Thinking of the infamous coffee cup..."
