A surveillance video captured the moment when a family in suburban enclave of Houston, Texas, blocked in a car with their two vehicles before firing gunshots that killed a man. The four family members have all been charged in the murder, which the sheriff's office now says occurred after an apparent case of mistaken identity.

Local CBS affiliate KHOU11 shared video taken from a neighborhood home of the incident.

In the video, three vehicles can be seen in the violent encounter that occurred Monday at approximately 11:35 p.m. Screams are heard as the SUV and a black car try to block in the victim's Dodge Challenger. The Challenger maneuvers away, and the black car then backs up onto a lawn before departing as the Challenger races away. The Challenger can be heard before slamming into a tree off-screen.

The driver of the Challenger, Eddie Clark, managed to get out of the car and run away, but he soon collapsed. He was airlifted to Memorial Hermann hospital, where he later died from a gunshot wound.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office confirmed to Newsweek the authenticity of the video posted by KHOU 11.

Meanwhile, investigators identified the suspects involved with the crime as 19-year-old Joe Argueta, 39-year-old Florinda Argueta, 45-year-old Luis Argueta, and 29-year-old Margarito Alcantar.

According to a police report, the family believed a friend of Joe's ex-girlfriend had been vandalizing their house and cars. The family was hoping to get vengeance on that person, who is said to drive a black Dodge Charger. When they saw Clark's car on the night of the shooting, Joe Argueta and his mother, father, and uncle got into two cars—the white SUV and the black car—and drove into the street to block the Challenger. Joe Argueta is allegedly then seen chasing the car on foot while firing a gun repeatedly as it drove off before hitting a tree.

One of the gunshots killed the driver, who has been identified as 29-year-old Eddie Clark. He was described as a neighbor of Arguetas, but he reportedly did not know the family. The Challenger he drove was gray, not black like the vehicle the Arguetas had been searching to find.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez later tweeted that it "seems like a tragic case of mistaken [identity]."

Seems like a tragic case of mistaken identify. Now, 4 charged in murder of Katy man. On 5/17, @HCSOTexas investigated the shooting death of Eddie Clark (29) at the 17100 blk of Hilton Hollow Dr. He was shot as he drove a dark gray Dodge Challenger. The sheriff's office released the following statement about Clark:

"The victim, Eddie Clark, lived in the Westminster Village Subdivision, and was on his way home when he was confronted by the Arguetas. Eddie Clark was driving a dark gray Dodge Challenger, not a black Dodge Charger. Eddie Clark was not known by the Arguetas and investigators did not receive any information that Eddie Clark was involved in the ongoing dispute."
