Ever since her first book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up was published, Marie Kondo and her organizing methods have become internationally recognized.

Her latest Netflix show, Sparking Joy with Marie Kondo, sees the 36-year-old help Americans apply her tidying techniques to overhaul your whole life, not just your living space.

But for those unfamiliar with her methods, how do you keep your clothes organized?

These are the easy ways to use her KonMari tidying method to fold your clothes.

How to Fold Tops

Marie Kondo recommends storing your clothes in a way that can easily be seen to save you time when you get dressed.

Instead of folding your clothes and storing them flat on top of each other, they should be folded so that they stand up within your drawers.

When folding your clothes, you are trying to communicate with them and express gratitude for the joy they spark in your life, according to Kondo's method, by applying a loving pressure through your palms as you fold.

Tank Tops

For a tank top, fold it into thirds in line with the straps to create a rectangular shape.

Then fold this in half lengthwise leaving a gap at the end of about an inch or two, and fold again in half or into thirds.

This then should be able to stand up when placed in a drawer next to other tops folded the same way.

Camisoles

Fold your camisole into thirds widthways.

You want to count the straps of your camisole as part of its length so don't tuck them in.

Fold it in half lengthwise, leaving a gap of about an inch or two between the edge of the camisole and its straps.

Then, fold in half or thirds so that it should stand.

T-shirts

T-shirts can be folded similarly, tucking the sleeves in neatly before then folding in half and then again in thirds.

Long-sleeved t-shirts and thin sweaters

For a long-sleeved t-shirt or thin sweater, fold one side in line with the edge of the neck.

Then fold the sleeve up to the edge of the other side of where you will fold your rectangle and fold the rest of the sleeve so it lies flush with the first side.

Fold the other side in line with the other side of the neck and repeat the same process with the second sleeve.

Now that you have a rectangle, fold it in half leaving a gap of about an inch or two, then fold again in half or thirds so that it will stand up.

How to fold pants

Take your pants and fold them in half down the center, lying one leg on top of the other.

Then, fold the legs up towards the waistband, leaving a gap of about one to two inches.

Finally, fold in half or into thirds.

Shorts

The process for folding shorts is very similar to that of folding pants.

Begin by folding down the center so one leg is on top of the other.

Then all that's left to do is fold in half.

How to fold socks

Kondo does not recommend tucking a pair of socks into one another and making them into a ball to protect the elastic.

Instead, you should lie one sock on top of the other, fold in half and half again.

If folded correctly, they too should stand up.

How to fold intimates

Panties

Fold the bottom gusset up towards the waistband.

Then, fold the sides over the top into thirds before rolling from the bottom.

If there is any pretty detailing on the waistband, store that way up so you can see it clearly from above.

Boxer shorts and trunks

Fold the edges from the middle into thirds to make a rectangle.

Then, fold in half and half again to make them stand upright.

Briefs

Take either side and fold into the middle to make a rectangular shape.

Next, as before, fold in half and half again to make them stand.

Underwired bras

First, take your bra and fold it in half at the center so one cup is under the other.

Fold the straps and sides under the cup.

You can store these by lightly leaning them in front of one another in your drawers so they can easily be seen.

Non-wired bras

Similarly, for bras without any underwire, fold in half at the center with one cup under the other.

Fold all the straps in towards the waistband and then roll it up.

Sports bras and bralettes

Fold the bra in half at the center and then fold the straps down towards the waistband.

Then, fold it in half or roll it up so it will stand.
