President Donald Trump is scheduled to deliver a speech on Thursday at the Whirlpool Corp.'s washing machine manufacturing plant in Clyde, Ohio.

The speech is expected to begin at 3:15 p.m. local time and will be live streamed on the White House's YouTube channel.

Trump will "deliver remarks on his administration's successful efforts to revitalize and support America's resurgent manufacturing industry," a White House official said, according to Politico.

While speaking to reporters on Wednesday, White House trade adviser Peter Navarro said the visit to the plant "is a very special trip for me and the president because Whirlpool really is the poster child for the astonishing success of Trump trade policy."

"The emphasis of the visit will be the triumph of the Trump trade and tariff policies, and the president will take a broad overview," Navarro said. "The speech should be very, very worthwhile."

Navarro added, "This company, Whirlpool, is really a symbol of everything that's beautiful and right about the president's trade policies and the use, strategically, of tariffs."

Navarro also spoke about how Whirlpool struggled during the Obama administration, "trying to fend off unfair competition from Korea and the guys from LG and Samsung, and they saw people get unemployed, they weren't able to make investments in modernization." But this changed when Trump imposed 50 percent tariffs on washing machines in 2018, he noted.

"The pride of Clyde there is booming, as are the nine factories that Whirlpool runs," Navarro said. "So that's what we're going to celebrate, the president having the backs of American workers and helping American icons—a 109-year old company, like Whirlpool—[properly] in the state of Ohio."

In an email sent to RichlandSource.com, Ohio Senator Rob Portman said he was "pleased" that Trump was visiting the factory.

"I'm pleased that President Trump will be visiting the world-class workforce at Whirlpool's Clyde factory. Since I joined the Senate in 2011, I've successfully fought to level the playing field for Whirlpool's workers to ensure they can effectively compete with their foreign competitors," Portman said in his email, according to the news site.

In addition to visiting the Whirlpool manufacturing plant, Trump is expected to attend a Cleveland fundraiser for his re-election campaign. According to Trump's campaign website, the event will also feature Republican National Committee Chairman Ronna McDaniel, RNC Co-chairman Tommy Hicks Jr., Trump Victory National Finance Chairman Todd Ricketts and Trump Victory Finance Committee National Chair Kimberly Guilfoyle.
