President Joe Biden is set to give a speech on the state of U.S. democracy and the "battle for the soul of the nation" on Thursday.

The address comes ahead of the midterm elections in November, when his Democratic Party will be hoping to keep control of Congress.

The president will deliver the speech outside Independence Hall in Philadelphia and is expected to return to the theme of his 2020 campaign about fighting for America's "rights and freedoms."

President Joe Biden's speech will be available to stream via the official White House YouTube channel on Thursday, September 1. The address is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET.

The livestream link will also be available via the White House website at whitehouse.gov/live.

In addition, Biden's speech to the nation will be broadcast on the cable network C-SPAN, which has a free mobile app.

The address will also be covered by other news networks and outlets such as CBS News, CNN, NBC and Fox.

What Will Joe Biden's Speech Be About?

With the midterms just over two months away, Biden will return to the core message of his 2020 election campaign about fighting for America's "rights and freedoms," according to a White House statement.

He is set to warn that democracy in the country is at risk, while taking aim at the Republican Party. The president is also expected to discuss how the U.S. is perceived by the rest of the world and his recent legislative victories, according to The New York Times.

In recent weeks, Biden has been more aggressive in criticizing what he describes as "ultra-MAGA Republicans."

At a rally in Maryland on August 25, he said: "Trump and the extreme MAGA Republicans have made their choice: to go backward, full of anger, violence, hate and division. But we've chosen a different path: forward, the future, unity, hope and optimism."

Thursday's speech will be the second from the president this week. On Tuesday, he delivered a speech about gun crime and control in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

Pledging to revive the ban on assault weapons, Biden said: "It's time to hold every elected official's feet to the fire and ask them: 'Are for banning assault weapons? Yes or no.' Ask them. If the answer is no, vote against them."
