Streaming service Hulu appeared to suffer outages across the U.S. today, with users complaining about error codes and technical issues.
DownDetector, a website that tracks the availability of websites and online platforms, confirmed the problems had been recorded in a variety of locations spanning the U.S., including New York, Washington, Boston, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
A verified Hulu Twitter account that handles support for the video streaming service had not commented about the mounting user complaints at the time of writing.
On the social network, #HuluDown became a trending topic as customers said they had been left frustrated by the lack of service. Based on the number of tweets, it appeared the apparent technical issues had been ongoing for several hours.
Multiple Twitter users claimed coverage was able to be accessed via the Safari internet browser, while others reported they had not yet experienced any issues at all.
"My @hulu got updated now when I open it, it crashes and closes automatically. What's going on?" one user said. Another person posted a clip that showed a similar issue:
Glad it’s not just my device not working for Hulu. Just wont open no matter how many times. #HuluDown pic.twitter.com/uEV5B29B21

Another Twitter user wrote."Why won't the @hulu app open on my iPhone or iPad? Things were working fine yesterday & today nothing," Another person wrote directly to the support account, fuming: "It's you. Wake people up and get this fixed."
In its latest reply, the support account directed a user who complained about getting an "error code 406" when trying to log in on a cell phone to its website help page.

@hulu app not working on iPhone or AppleTV 4K. Reinstall of apps and restarting devices didn’t fix. Any solutions? My son wants his Curious George ?

@hulu why does your app crash on any iOS device? Would love to be able to watch live tv during this quarantine. Power cycled devices & and reinstalled app. Still not working. Any ideas?

Hey @hulu is there an issue with the app? Been working fine and all of a sudden, won't open on my @AppleTV ? Has there been an update or something? Just attempts to load and crashes straight away before getting past the initial load screen. I've reset my Apple TV etc & still nope
