Hysterics Over Border Collie Trying to Wake Up Guest in 'Most Polite' Way

The heartwarming moment a dog gently attempted to rouse a slumbering house guest has gained viral attention.

The charming video posted by @marniecatherine has over 11.6 million views on TikTok. In the clip, a border collie offers gentle paws at the poster's best friend who is still asleep.

Offering a subtle and polite approach, the dog melted hearts as the owner wrote in the text overlay: "She's trying so hard to be the most polite in waking up my bff [best forever friend]."

Border collies are a British breed of herding dog that was only fully recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) in 1995.

Developed over centuries for herding sheep, the breed's history can be traced back to the Romans, and it is thought to have been descended from landrace collies found widely in the British Isles.

The modern border collie is recognized to be an extremely intelligent, athletic, and energetic. They are similarly renowned for their close relationship with humans. With a long and smooth coat, the breed generally weighs between 27 and 45 pounds. Border collies live on average for 12 years, and need plenty of exercise—often around two hours a day.

An adorable example of the understanding nature of dogs and their human companions, the video has delighted people as they watched the pup gently trying to wake the woman.

Reactions flooded in on the comments as people posted their thoughts. One viewer was taken with the dog's looks and posted, "That is the prettiest border collie I've ever seen," while another wrote: "Stop it this is so cute I'm going to cry."

Others were taken by the difference between their pets and the dog in the video. One commenter wrote, "My dog slaps me in the face to wake up," while another added: "My dog jumps on me and barks at me if I don't get up within 5 seconds."

"My dog launches herself onto me and sits on me till I get up," wrote one TikTok user who also wasn't familiar with the gentle dog wake-up.
