Reddit has been shocked by a video clip showing a house rendered uninhabitable thanks to thousands of Bud Light bottles.

The smartphone clip shows empty alcohol containers obscuring the floor and furniture, and even reaching the ceiling's fan on occasion.

Uploaded by Reddit user Purple-Circle, the video clip swiftly went viral and generated 45,000 upvotes within 11 hours.

More than 2,855 users rushed to express their shock in the comments.

The clip, which Newsweek has yet to authenticate, was captioned: "Working his way up to real beer. Guy was evicted and left this behind. Probably spent the rent money on Bud Light."

Purple-Circle went on to detail both the scale of the cleanup operation and exactly how unsanitary the apartment became.

He wrote: "You can almost make out the kitchen at the back under the lights. They are as full to the countertops with bottles and boxes were thrown on top."

He added: "There are other videos of the house that show all the empty bottles stacked almost to the ceiling in one room. Judging by the amount of bottle, I'd say that he spent well over a few grand."

In a third post, they said there may be "thousands of bottles" at the unidentified residency, which is apparently in Texas.

Purple-Circle added: "The boxes look new because they went straight from the liquor store to the house, were drank straight away and were then thrown on the nearest pile."

However, it is claimed what cannot be seen through the visual medium of video is arguably the most disgusting detail.

In responding to TheVulfPecker's question: "He didn't pee in any of those did he? Sometimes they do," the original poster wrote: "See the ones with the caps on?"

Responding directly to Reddit user Imapartofghost's comment: "And left the fan on hurricane mode ... oof, the disrespect!", Purple-Circle commented: "Gotta move the stale beer, p**s and cigarette smell somehow."

Newsweek has contacted the original poster for an update and comment about the 39-second-long clip.

While some commentators viewed the video in a lighthearted way, the dramatic footage served as a stark reminder of the grip alcohol holds over America.

Drug overdose deaths rose nearly 30 percent in 2020 to 93,000, according to preliminary statistics released in July by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

However, the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism statistics suggest an estimated 95,000 people die from alcohol-related causes, meaning the legal drug is the third-leading preventable cause of death in the U.S.
