The internet has been left in stitches after a video of a cat copying a pose on a vet's poster went viral on the social media platform TikTok.

TikTok user mialoustevens uploaded the video of the confused feline during a visit to the vet, which has gone on to be viewed more than 2 million times.

The clip, which can be viewed here, showed the confused gray feline coming out of its pet carrier with its front left paw raised and nervously looking to the wall.

A text overlay on the video read: "Took her to the vet and apparently this room was made for her."

Within seconds, viewers could see why the cat might have been confused about what to do after it left the pet carrier. Still laughing, the user panned to the wall, showing a large image of a similar gray cat with its left paw raised in the air.

While the user continued to film, the confused feline kept the same pose as the cat in the poster until the clip came to an end.

Since being uploaded on Tuesday, the clip has been liked more than 430,500 times and has attracted some 1,580 comments.

Unsurprisingly, many of those who flooded the comment section found the cat's reaction to the poster to be hilarious.

One TikTok user said: "She does the same exact position as the cat on the wall."

Another added: "She's like 'how did I get on the wall?'"

A third person posted: "I think she's figuring out how to sue because she didn't get any royalties."

But one commenter was more sympathetic than others, writing: "Imagine going to the doctor and they have a giant poster of you. I'd be freaked too."

Newsweek has contacted mialoustevens for comment.

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), as of 2018, 25.4 percent of U.S. households have a cat at home. It said that the total number of cats living in U.S. homes was estimated to be 58,385,725.

The AVMA also found in 2018 the average household veterinary expenditure for cat owners was $182.

Content featuring cats has come to dominate TikTok, with videos featuring felines regularly going viral on the social media platform.

Earlier this month, a cat with a furious expression on his face had been viewed more than 3 million times across several different videos.

In January, a British cat with hearing and memory loss issues melted hearts online after it was featured in a video, which gained over 17 million views.
