A video has gone viral on TikTok after a Hooters employee shared that employees are required to purchase their own tights at work. Commenters were shocked that something required for the uniform would not be paid for by Hooters.
TikToker @kenzjee posted the video on January 15 which now has over four million views. In the video, she and another employee show how they purchase the tights that are worn under their uniforms from a machine in the bathroom.
Commenters on the video were confused as to why if they're part of the uniform, employees would be expected to purchase them.
@Kenzjee responded to one of the comments explaining that Hooters has to sell the tights "through a third party company because tights are considered 'under garments' so they can't provide them."
In response to another comment, @Kenzjee says employees also have to purchase their shirts and shorts.
"It's company uniform, company should pay for it," one commenter wrote. "Making money from your employees is bad business.."
In October, the chain's uniforms made the news after introducing a new style of shorts for employees to wear.

TODAY reported that a handful of servers took to TikTok to voice their concerns with some describing the garment as "like underwear."
The outlet explains that locations of the chain are operated by one of two companies, Hooters of America and The Original Hooters group, and that not all locations updated the uniform.
Hooters of America introduced the new shorts at locations in Texas initially before rolling out to other locations. The Original Hooters group, though, maintained the classic orange shorts and white shirt.
In a statement sent to NBC News after the initial pushback, Hooters of America said that servers would be allowed to choose which version of the uniform they preferred.
@Kenzjee responded to a commenter who noted that the uniforms don't look to be very comfortable. In the response video, she posts footage of her attempting to pull down on her uniform shirt which she says she's "stuck" in, displaying the tightness of the garment.
@Kenzjee uses her TikTok account to document her experience working at the chain. She often tells stories about interactions with customers during her shift.
In one video posted on February 5, she explained that if a server has a rip in their tights they are required to change into a new pair. On a recent shift, she said, she was changing into a new set of tights in the restroom, which is commonplace for employees, and her table of customers walked in on her.
Newsweek contacted @Kenzjee and Hooters of America for comment but did not hear back in time for publication.
