Ireland Baldwin has revealed her reasons for shaving off her hair, having debuted a new look on Instagram over the weekend.
On Saturday, the model, 26, posted a photo of her transformation on the image-sharing platform, along with a defiant message.
Captioning the image, which showed that her fleshly shaved head had been bleached to a platinum blonde hue, Baldwin wrote: "don't tell me I won't do something because I will."
While Baldwin's unveiling of her new look was met with a flood of positive messages, she shared an Instagram Stories post explaining the reasons behind her big decision.

"Do things that scare you," she wrote over a selfie, screenshots of which were obtained by multiple news outlets. "Do things that other people say you'll never do."
"My hair was destroyed by years of bleach and modeling and bulls*** since I was 17," she went on to explain. "It's long overdue for a restart/refresh. I've always wanted to do this, but I was always scared. Now that I don't care about what other people think, I feel more beautiful than ever."
Likening her look to that of past movie characters, Baldwin added: "GI Jane/Evey Hammond level unlocked."
Baldwin, daughter of actors Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin, tagged stylist Hannah Bonetti, who posted a video clip of the haircut.
The footage showed Ireland Baldwin using the clippers to remove some of her hair with two swipes, before Bonetti took over and completed the task.
"Had the absolute pleasure of helping @irelandirelandireland go fearlessly into uncharted territory this afternoon," Bonetti captioned the post. "We were planning on a big change (like, bangs), but neither one of us knew our session would end in a transformation of this magnitude.
"Grateful to have clients who bring all of themselves into my chair and trust me with moments as radical as this. Today was a celebration of shedding that which no longer serves us."
In the early hours of Monday morning, Ireland Baldwin returned to Instagram to thank those who had shared supportive messages—as well as address those whose comments were far less flattering.
"I've been getting really sweet messages about my head," she captioned a selfie. "Thank you for hyping me up. And for those of you being nasty, stay mad. You're just mad I'm a cuter boy than you."

Back in February, Ireland Baldwin discussed how she has risen about negative misconceptions about her as she took part in a then-viral TikTok trend of dancing to The Ting Tings' hit "That's Not My Name."
As she struck a series of different poses, an overlaying caption read: "My name is Ireland... but the media likes to call me...," before listing the insults.
Such terms as "fat," "attention seeking, voluptuous, promiscuous," and "well off, silver spoon fed brat w/ no real job" were flashed up on the screen, as well as "thoughtless little pig."
Concluding the 13-second clip, which can be viewed here, she stated: "My name is Ireland. I'm a writer. And I think pigs are cute so [joke's] on you."
During a conversation with Willow Smith that aired in April, Ireland Baldwin revealed how entering the modeling world affected her struggles with body image.
"It ruined my brain," she said on Red Table Talk. "I had already had so many body issues, eating disorders, all that stuff, that I had before I even got into modeling.
"At the beginning of my modeling career, I was like, 'Why am I even doing this?' It was just awful."
"I don't think I ever would've been scouted as a model if it weren't for who my parents are," she also stated. "Nothing makes me want to peel off my fingernails more than doing, like, a Basinger/Baldwin spread in a magazine. And then facing the criticism and the comparisons, and then that anxiety for me is, like, extremely toxic."
