President Donald Trump's daughter and senior adviser Ivanka Trump is facing backlash after criticizing a CNN panel for mocking her father's supporters and mimicking Southern accents.

In the panel, CNN anchor Don Lemon laughed as regular guest Rick Wilson and New York Times op-ed writer Wajahat Ali mocked the president and his supporters over their intelligence.

"Donald Trump couldn't find Ukraine on a map if you had the letter 'U' and a picture of an actual, physical crane next to it," Wilson quipped during the exchange.

He then laid into the "credulous boomer rube [demographic] that backs Donald Trump, the ones that think that, 'Donald Trump's the smart one…y'all elitists are dumb,'" as he adopted a Southern accent while tearing into the president's base.

"You elitists," Ali joined in, adopting a similar southern drawl, "with your geography and your maps and your spelling."

"Your math and your readin'," Wilson jumped in, before Ali added: "Yeah, your readin', your geography, knowing other countries, sipping your latte."

Taking notice of the exchange, Ivanka Trump was quick to condemn the CNN panel for making a mockery of Trump supporters, writing on Twitter: "You consistently make fun of half the country and then complain that it is divided. The arrogance, mocking accents and smug ridicule of this nation's 'Real Elites' is disgusting."

While many agreed with Ivanka's blistering admonition, others were quick to remind her of someone else known for making a mockery of accents: her own father, President Trump.

"'Mocking accents?'" Mehdi Hasan, a columnist at The Intercept, wrote on Twitter. "Your father mocked the accent of the Indian prime minister," he said, including a link to a 2018 Business Insider story on reports that the president "often imitates" Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"Here he is on tape mocking Chinese and Japanese accents and mannerisms at a rally," Hasan continued, referring to video of Trump mocking negotiators from Japan and China at a rally in Dubuque, Iowa in August 2015.

"When these people walk in the room, they don't say, 'oh hello, how's the weather? So beautiful outside, isn't it lovely? How are the Yankees doing? Oh, they're doing wonderful, great.' They say, 'We want deal!'"

As Hasan later pointed out, Trump has also faced backlash for mocking former Attorney General Jeff Sessions' southern accent while speaking at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland last year.

In that incident, the president had hit out at Sessions for recusing himself in the federal probe into Russian election meddling, with Trump saying: "And the attorney general says 'I'm gonna recuse myself,'" as a crowd of supporters booed.

Newsweek has contacted Ivanka Trump's press team and CNN for comment.
