Ivanka Trump Skips 2024 Announcement, Distances Herself From Campaign

Ivanka Trump said that she did not attend her father's 2024 presidential announcement on Tuesday because she does "not plan to be involved in politics" during former President Donald Trump's third presidential campaign.

In a statement released to CNN, Ivanka Trump said, "While I will always love and support my father, going forward I will do so outside of the political arena."

CNN White House correspondent Kate Bennett shared a snippet of the statement on Twitter Tuesday night. Breaking news reporter Paul LeBlanc said the statement was sent to CNN "minutes after" Donald Trump announced his next presidential run.

"This time around, I am choosing to prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating as a family," Ivanka wrote in the statement.

Bennett reported last week that a person close to Ivanka Trump said she "has been 'done' with Washington 'since the day she left' and that 'hasn't changed.'"

Ivanka Trump served as senior adviser during her father's term in the White House along with Jared Kushner, her husband. Kushner was spotted at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago event Tuesday, but Bennett reported last week that sources close to him indicated that Kushner "does not intend to join the campaign and get back involved."

During Donald Trump's time in office, Ivanka Trump focused on education and economic empowerment of women and families, using her personal experience as a businesswoman.

In December 2019, she said during an interview with CBS that she might not return to the White House if her father were to win reelection in 2020, saying at the time that she was "driven first and foremost by my kids and their happiness."

Ivanka Trump's older brother, Donald Trump Jr., posted on Twitter his support for his father's campaign.

"We will once again put America First!" he wrote.

Donald Trump Jr., who served as an outside adviser for his father in 2016 and 2020 and is the executive vice president of the Trump Organization, was also not in attendance at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday. ABC News reported that Trump Jr. was "hunting out west" and could not make it back in time for his father's announcement due to "bad weather."

Eric Trump did attend his father's announcement, as well as former first lady Melania Trump.
