Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni told reporters Wednesday that the plan is for Hurts to be the starter for Sunday's game against the Washington Commanders.
Hurts wore a brace over his left knee during the second half of the 31-17 victory against the Miami Dolphins in Week 7. He completed 74 percent of his passes for 279 yards and two touchdowns with an interception. Hurts also rushed for a touchdown, and his 12-yard run was a pivotal play in the eight-play, 75-yard drive, resulting in the go-ahead touchdown pass to A.J Brown in the third quarter.
Hurts didn't get into specifics on the injury, but acknowledged it was a hurdle he had to overcome.

"Being banged up, it's just trying to find ways to win. I don't want to make it bigger than what it is," Hurts said during Wednesday's press conference. "I think it's something that comes with every player in this league. Things happen, and you find ways to overcome them."
Philadelphia had a walkthrough on Wednesday instead of a traditional practice, so the team's injury report is an estimation of how the player would've participated in practice. That said, Hurts wasn't on the report, and Sirianni expressed confidence that Hurts would be ready for Sunday's NFC East divisional game.
"We're confident that he'll be ready to go, but anytime these guys are working through pain and things like that ... We anticipate him to go. That doesn't mean it's easy," Sirianni told reporters during his Wednesday press conference. "Again, we'll see. We're not going to be out on the field running around today, so I still need a little bit more time ... We're hopeful there will be no limitations on Sunday."
Hurts wouldn't say how he got injured, but he did clarify that it didn't happen on a play when he was a runner. He's rushed for 274 yards this season with six touchdowns.
"I don't know that I've ever been banged up as a runner," Hurts told reporters. "Everything comes from within the pocket—in which the illusion is, or the narrative is, that you run the ball more, that's not always the case. Not here."
Hurts missed two games last season with a shoulder injury and one the previous year with a high-ankle sprain requiring offseason surgery. He also had a different ankle surgery this offseason for an injury dating to his days playing college football.
The Eagles are 6-1 this season with Hurts on the field. Since taking over as starter, the Eagles have only won one of four games in which Hurts didn't play.
