President Joe Biden was caught stumbling on the stairs while boarding Air Force One on Wednesday.
The press pool traveling with the president reported that after Biden greeted people in Colorado and posed for a photo with law enforcement, he boarded a "smaller Air Force One using its available stairs" adding that there was a slight stumble on the way up.
This comes as Biden continues facing scrutiny about his age and past incidents where he tripped ahead of the 2024 presidential election, as critics have also raised concerns about the gaffes he has made as president. Biden, who will turn 81 in November, would be 82 at the beginning of his second term if he wins reelection in 2024.
Newsweek has reached out to the White House via email for comment.
Biden was traveling to Pueblo, Colorado, to visit a wind tower manufacturer that recently announced an expansion that the White House said was a direct result of the Inflation Reduction Act—a signature part of his economic agenda.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters Tuesday that Biden will deliver remarks about how his economic agenda is "mobilizing investments in clean energy manufacturing."
Biden's latest stumble comes after a gaffe during the White House's annual Thanksgiving turkey pardon, during which Biden appeared to confuse Britney Spears with Taylor Swift, who is currently on tour in Brazil while discussing how far the two turkeys, Liberty and Bell, traveled to be pardoned.
Biden's other gaffes in recent months sparked concerns from both Republicans and Democrats. In October, he said he first visited Israel prior to the Six-Day War. His first visit to Israel was in 1973, just before the Yom Kippur War.
In September, he also mixed up the name of rapper LL Cool J, calling him "LL J Cool J" during a speech at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's annual Legislative Conference.
However, Biden is not the only one to face criticisms over multiple gaffes. Former president Donald Trump has also been known to make mistakes.
Recently, Trump faced criticisms and questions over his cognitive abilities after he mixed up Biden with former President Barack Obama in multiple speech gaffes.
In a November 12 article from Forbes, the former president has made the mix-up at least seven times, with the latest being earlier this month while speaking in New Hampshire. Trump also referenced Obama when he clearly meant Biden at a rally in Ottumwa, Iowa, on October 1, twice in a Fox News Radio interview on October 11 and three times during a September 15 speech before faith leaders in Washington.
Biden also made a similar stumble back in July days after some questioned why a "watch your step" sign was spotted on the stairs leading up to Air Force One during Biden's arrival in the U.K. that month.
"About half way up he appeared to stumble very slightly but kept walking on up. He turned to wave to the staff out on the tarmac and went in," the pool report read.
According to NBC News, Biden had planned to make the trip to Colorado in October, but it was postponed after war broke out between Israel and Hamas.
