Never one to hold back his opinion, Joe Rogan was left in awe while watching MMA great Demetrious Johnson compete in a jiu-jitsu match with an opponent 100 lbs. heavier than him.
On the Friday, March 29 episode of his Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Rogan praised Johnson — nicknamed "Mighty Mouse" — while in conversation with guest and stand-up comedian Joey Diaz, calling Johnson "the best ever."
"How crazy is that? Mighty Mouse took on a guy who is 250 pounds in a jiu-jitsu tournament. And he tapped him," Rogan said in amazement as he watched the competition with Diaz, who was also incredulous. "The dude was heavier than him by 100 pounds The dude was enormous, the guy was so much bigger than him."
Rogan continued: "Look at the size difference. Look at how big that dude is — but Mighty Mouse is so slick. There it is. And then manages to stay on top, which is really crazy. It's crazy that he couldn't get him off him. That's technique."

Moreover, the UFC commentator said, it's "pretty wild that he's even willing to do this while he's competing … so he's still doing MMA, he's still doing high-level championship fights" while also competing in a jiu-jitsu match.
"He's probably the best ever. In terms of just pure martial arts technique, I think the best expression of martial arts technique is Mighty Mouse," Rogan hailed.
While Johnson is a heavy hitter across multiple forms of mixed martial arts, Rogan has made a name for himself not just in UFC — but in the podcast arena. Rogan's no-holds-barred, oftentimes controversial takes have turned The Joe Rogan Experience into the top subscribed-to podcast on Spotify by far.
Late last month, Bloomberg reported that Rogan's podcast had 14.5 million subscribers at time of publication — nearly 10 million more than the subscriber count of TED Talks Daily, the second most-subscribed-to podcast on the app. (To put it in perspective, in late March, Call Her Daddy had 3.5 million subscribers, while New Heights With Jason and Travis Kelce had less than 1 million.)
