The recent developments of Jonathan Majors' legal procedures have sent ripples through the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the brand dropped him on Monday.

The Loki and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star, who appeared as variations of Kang/He Who Must Remain and Victor Timely across the projects, was fired by Marvel Studios after a New York jury found him guilty of assaulting and harassing his ex-girlfriend.

Following a two-week domestic violence trial which concluded on Monday, Majors could face up to a year in jail after he was convicted on two misdemeanor assault and harassment charges. He was acquitted of two other harassment and assault charges.

News on the verdict and Marvel's firm stance have prompted some social media users to compare it to the controversy surrounding Ezra Miller during The Flash.

Miller has made several headlines, dating as far back as April 2020 in Reykjavík, Iceland, when a video emerged of them allegedly choking a woman and throwing her to the ground. In 2022, the actor was arrested in Hawaii and charged with disorderly conduct and harassment, and received a criminal complaint after refusing to leave a woman's house, of whom they had previously had a consensual sexual relationship.

When DCU's The Flash was released, many questioned if they should be dropped from the company for future projects, with some moviegoers urging for the film to be scrapped or boycotted. The movie was released in cinemas in June this year.

Sharing a gif on X, formerly Twitter, of Homelander smirking, a social media user said: "Ezra Miller watching Jonathan Majors go to jail while he basically got away with it."

Homelander from Prime Video's The Boys is known for being a questionable hero and, at times, performing gory acts that he justifies when needed.

Another shared their thoughts comparing Miller and Majors' situation, writing: "You know what shocks me? Ezra Miller has done far worse than Jonathan Majors; all he got was a slap on the wrist. Where is his 1 year and a bit of prison sentence?"

Another user wrote: "DC to Ezra Miller: 'This guy could kill someone, but we have no choice but to keep working with him'. 'Disney to Jonathan Majors: [kicking gif],'" accompanied by a gif of a figure being kicked off of a screen.

Memes and gifs continued to be used when discussing the point, with one person using a short clip of a woman looking perplexed, with the caption: "Hollywood: 'Jonathan Majors, you assaulted your gf. You're canceled.' Also Hollywood: 'Ezra Miller, we know you choked a fan on camera, held a mother and daughter at knifepoint in their own home, got into a bar fight, assaulted a cop. But you're such a good actor.' Us: [gif]."

Another contentious DCU star was also brought up, as a user said: "The fact that Marvel can act that fast in firing black actor Jonathan Majors while DC let Ezra Miller and Amber Heard keep their jobs is infuriating."

Heard had a hugely public defamation lawsuit against ex-husband Johnny Depp with it, clearly dividing those who watched on.

Another user said: "So Jonathan Majors is going to jail for the same thing Ezra Miller basically got off scot-free for doing? Yeah, racism is probably just an old idea."

A user on X defended the news, writing: "The Jonathan Majors/ Ezra Miller comparisons are infuriating. 1. Different companies make different decisions, and WB is operating under far worse leadership than Disney. 2. It's much easier to fire someone from a movie that hasn't filmed yet than a movie that's basically done."

Newsweek has contacted Jonathan Majors' defense attorney and Ezra Miller's legal representatives via email for comment.
