Julia Fox Says Kanye's Career Shouldn't Be Reduced to 'Really Bad Moments'

Julia Fox is opening up about her brief relationship with controversial rapper Kanye West.

The Uncut Gems star revealed certain details about dating West, who has legally changed his name to Ye, in a video posted Monday to TikTok. Fox was responding to a fan who had written that they wished she wasn't "dating a famously violent misogynist and antisemite."

Jewish groups have criticized West in recent weeks for making antisemitic statements, often on platforms like Twitter and Instagram. But Fox said that during the couple's month together West refrained from using social media. She also said she thought she could help him following his split from Kim Kardashian.

"I was delusional. I thought I could help him. Anyway, it didn't work, and now we're here," Fox said in the video. "But that being said, I really deeply respect the man as an artist."

She also said she doesn't want to "reduce his whole career to his really bad moments, you know. That being said, I stand with the Jewish community, period."

West has made headlines recently for a series of antisemitic statements, including an October post that got him temporarily barred from Twitter. In it, he said he was "going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE."

Fox enjoys a large social media following, with fans flocking to her TikTok account to see her candid posts and unique fashion sense. The actor and model has talked about being neurodivergent and said in a comment earlier this month that she has autism.

This isn't the first time that Fox has appeared to reference West since the two parted ways. During a recent podcast, she seemed to say that the hip-hop icon helped her learn how to work with the paparazzi.

In Fox's Monday video, she said she thought she could "distract" the rapper from Kardashian by getting him to like her. She added that West didn't talk about his past relationship during their time together.

"We only really talked about clothes and like weird ideas and plans for the future and our hopes and dreams for childhood and education," Fox said. "And, like, it was really beautiful, guys."

Newsweek reached out to representatives for West for comment. A representative for Fox declined to provide further comment.
