Katy Perry denied rumors of being raped by Dr. Luke in a deposition from July 2017, according to People magazine, who obtained the unsealed records on Monday.

In the deposition, the singer said multiple times the producer never raped her, contrary to statements made in Luke's ongoing defamation lawsuit against singer Kesha, whom Luke said was the one to initially make claims he sexually assaulted Perry.

Luke denied the rumor from the start. Calling the rumor "outrageous and untrue," Luke's legal team accused Kesha of floating the malicious rumor back in January 2016 in conversation with Lady Gaga, which resulted in the claim becoming "widely accepted, damaging Dr. Luke's reputation irreparably."

"Katy Perry testified under oath in this case that Dr. Luke never raped her. Regardless, Kesha refused to apologize. Instead, she issued a press release which again irresponsibly suggested that Katy Perry was actually raped by Dr. Luke. It seems that Kesha wanted to perpetuate the falsehood that Dr. Luke raped Katy Perry," they said in a statement on Monday.

Legal reps for Kesha denied the "Tik Tok" singer ever made the accusation.

"With regard to Dr. Luke's claim that Kesha defamed him by falsely stating he also assaulted Katy Perry, Kesha has never claimed to have any independent knowledge of any alleged assault of Katy Perry (which Ms. Perry has denied in a later deposition)," Kesha's legal team said in a statement released Monday.

The attorneys said Luke was citing defamation based on rumors that were alleged in a private text exchange between Kesha and Gaga following a separate previous conversation the women had with Interscope CEO John Janick, during which he claimed he heard rumors of Perry being raped by Luke.

"Mr. Janick's statement was discussed privately between the two friends and would never have become public, except that Dr. Luke decided to publish it to millions of people in his 2017 complaint against Kesha. This defamation claim, based on a private text message which was based on the statement of a third party, is also frivolous," the statement continued.

In her deposition, also obtained by People on Monday, Gaga confirmed having a conversation with Janick and remembered him mentioning the rumor.

"I don't recall exactly the way he said it. I just recall that it was brought up," she said. "He said something like I heard [Dr. Luke] raped Katy [Perry], too."
