What Has Marvel Boss Kevin Feige Said About the 'Next Saga' in the MCU?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been busy setting up its next saga following the end of the Infinity War.

Phase 4 of the MCU has introduced new heroes and seen others take up the mantle from fallen friends, but it hasn't appeared to have a particular direction in mind. Well that is all about to change according to Kevin Feige.

The president of Marvel Studios has teased what the future holds for the MCU, explaining what will come in the "next saga."

What Has Marvel Boss Kevin Feige Said About the 'Next Saga' in the MCU?

Phase 4 of the MCU began with Disney+'s WandaVision, which was first broadcast in January 2021,and it consists of every Marvel show and film that has come after it, the most recent of which is Ms. Marvel.

In comparison to the Infinity Saga, the MCU hasn't had a distinct goal in mind as yet, and the only main factor connecting the films appears to have been the concept of the multiverse.

While Phase 4 still has a number of other films like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Fantastic Four and Blade to come, Feige has shared that the path the MCU is on will become clear very soon.

Speaking to Total Film ahead of the release of Thor: Love and Thunder, Feige teased: "As we're nearing the end of Phase 4, I think people will start to see where this next saga is going.

"I think there have been many clues already, that are at least apparent to me, of where this whole saga is going.

"But we'll be a little more direct about that in the coming months, to set a plan, so audiences who want to see the bigger picture can see a tiny, tiny, tiny bit more of the roadmap."

The MCU has a number of TV shows and films coming out until the end of 2022, including Thor: Love and Thunder, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, while Ms. Marvel will conclude on July 13.

It's not clear which of these projects will reveal the "bigger picture" as Feige puts it, but Thor: Love and Thunder will introduce Gorr the God Butcher, and Ms. Marvel will set up The Marvels, one of the last films in Phase 4.

Of course there is also the impact of Loki's final act to explore because, although he's not been mentioned since the Disney+ show, Jonathan Major's villain Kang the Conqueror will likely have a huge impact on the MCU and its new team of superheroes.

One thing the next saga in the MCU should probably do is set up an adversary for the heroes to defeat—in order to replicate the impact Thanos (Josh Brolin) had on the Infinity Saga—and time-traveler Kang the Conqueror seems like the right villain for the job.

Like Feige said though, all—or at least something—will be revealed soon.
