Detective Benoit Blanc is returning to the big screen later this year as Netflix releases the new teaser trailer for the much-awaited sequel to Knives Out.
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery brings Daniel Craig's eccentric and gentlemanly sleuth to Greece, where a dangerous game is afoot at a reclusive millionaire's private island. The film comes from the mind of Agatha Christie-inspired writer and director Rian Johnson.
Much like its successful predecessor, the upcoming sequel to Knives Out is packed with a star-studded cast: Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Kate Hudson, Madelyn Cline, Jessica Henwick and Ethan Hawke will soon become potential suspects in the tropical whodunit.

While very little of the mystery is revealed, the teaser is action-packed with glass-smashing, dancing, gun-wielding and fire-starting.
"Lock the doors. Stay in your rooms," Craig's Blanc warns. "Everyone is in danger."
The full trailer was posted to the film's official Twitter account, and can be seen here.
You expected a mystery.

You expected a puzzle.
But for one person on this island, this is not a game.

While the first Knives Out was an old-money mansion mystery, Johnson told Netflix's TUDUM that he wanted Glass Onion to be set somewhere completely different.
"I was writing [Glass Onion] during the lockdown of 2020, and I wanted to be on a beach vacation more than anything," Johnson said.
"So much of why I'm so into making these is that they just do bring me an intense amount of joy. Working with Daniel in this genre and having fun with it and the humor, getting to work with a new group of actors every time, everything about it just brings me happiness."

The sequel should vary exponentially from the first film, as Johnson is fond of playing with different mystery forms, much like Christie.
"The phrase I kept coming back to and talking about the first movie is, 'It's a roller coaster and not a crossword puzzle,'" Johnson said. "It's a common mistake in writing whodunits, thinking that you're making a crossword puzzle, and that the fun is that the audience is actually going to analyze all this and figure it out. I know when I'm reading or watching a whodunit, I always let go of the notion of figuring it out about a third of the way through it."
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will premiere on Saturday at the Toronto International Film Festival, and is set to release globally on Netflix on December 23 and in select theaters at a later date.
