Lady Gaga has been snubbed at the Oscars this year after the performer failed to receive a nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role for House of Gucci.
The performer, real name Stefani Germanotta, portrayed Patrizia Reggiani in the Ridley Scott-directed film, which followed the iconic fashion family and the murder of Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver) for control of the brand.
Jessica Chastain, Olivia Colman, Penélope Cruz, Nicole Kidman and Kristen Stewart have all been nominated in the highly contested category.

The nominees for Actress in a Leading Role are:
Jessica Chastain - The Eyes of Tammy Faye
Olivia Colman - The Lost Daughter
Penélope Cruz - Parallel Mothers
Nicole Kidman - Being The Ricardos
Kristen Stewart - Spencer
Meanwhile, House of Gucci was shut out from several categories and failed to receive a Best Picture nomination.
The film has only received one nomination in the Make Up & Hairstyling category with none of its stars getting acting nominations.
Jared Leto had been expected to potentially receive a Supporting Actor nomination for his role as designer Paolo Gucci but was shut out of that category with Ciarán Hinds, Troy Kotsur, Jesse Plemons, J.K. Simmons and Kodi Smit-McPhee being recognized.

Film buffs and Lady Gaga fans alike have been reacting with shock to Tuesday's Oscars upset on social media.
"breathe if you agree that lady gaga deserved to be nominated as best actress at the #Oscars," reads one tweet.
