A dog's reaction to a puppy's excitement about playing has left viewers of a video laughing.
The comical encounter was caught on camera and shared on TikTok by owner Alison Glover, where it has been viewed over 154,000 times.
The stark contrast between pocket beagle puppy Sushi and the adult household pug named Zoey is clear as Sushi enthusiastically tries to play. As the video unfolds, Sushi is seen desperately trying to engage Zoey in play, emitting squeaks and yowls to capture her attention. But Zoey maintains a standoffish stance, observing the spirited puppy from a distance and refraining from joining in the lively interaction.
"Sushi isn't winning her over anytime soon," Glover wrote alongside the video.
She told Newsweek: "The puppy tries to get anyone's attention to play, and Zoey has gone through everything with us. She is just an unbothered older dog."

The pocket beagle is a smaller version of the standard beagle, renowned for its affectionate, sociable and playful nature. Described as gentle, sweet, lively and curious, the breed is known for being excellent with children and generally good with other dogs.
Interestingly, the pocket beagle is not officially recognized as a separate breed, and the real pocket beagle is considered extinct. The breed's popularity persisted in England until the 19th century, after which it gradually faded away.
While modern breeders have attempted to re-create miniature beagles, these dogs are not considered a separate breed and are often not purebred beagles.
The amusing dynamic between the two canine companions in the video brought comments from viewers who shared their reactions.
A user named Megan expressed her amusement, saying, "I have never heard a baby beagle war cry before, and I'm not disappointed."
Another viewer, KP, lauded Sushi's courage, writing, "The courage that little Beagle has is admirable. So cute."
Other viewers couldn't help but notice Zoey's apparent reluctance to join in the fun. Another commenter humorously observed, "Pug looks so done already." User Lulu83 summed up the sentiment with a straightforward "Cuteness overload."
Introducing a puppy to an older dog does require a bit of time and patience.
Mary Burch, a certified applied animal behaviorist and American Kennel Club family dog director, previously told Newsweek: "The one thing you don't want to do when you introduce your new puppy to your older dog is to put the puppy and dog together and let them work things out on their own."
Instead, she advises introducing a puppy and dog in a controlled situation, helping them to slowly form a relationship while still having the option to retreat to their own spaces.
It seems that the pug and new beagle puppy in the clip are getting used to each other. A later video shows them playing near each other and getting a little closer.
"They have a love-hate relationship," said Glover. "Zoey is warming up to Sushi but only enough to tolerate her," she added, laughing.
