Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert's 18-year-old son Tyler was arrested on Tuesday and is facing 22 charges, according to Colorado's Rifle Police Department and documents from Garfield County Jail, where he was booked in.
The Context
Boebert, a House Republican and Donald Trump loyalist, is in a fight for her political future after announcing she wants to run for Colorado's 4th congressional district in November, not the 3rd, which she currently represents.
What We Know
In a statement on Facebook the Rifle Police Department said they arrested Tyler at 2:30 p.m. "after a recent string of vehicle trespass and property thefts in Rifle."
They continued: "Boebert is facing the following charges: four felony counts of Criminal Possession ID Documents - Multiple Victims, one felony count of Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, and over 15 additional misdemeanor and petty offenses."
The department added the investigation was continuing and no additional information would be released at this time.
A custody document from Garfield County Jail shows Tyler was booked in on Tuesday and has been charged with 22 separate offenses.
These are four counts of criminal possession of a financial device, three counts of first degree criminal trespass auto with intent to commit crime, four counts of criminal possession of ID documents, four counts of ID theft with intent to use, three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, three counts of theft of less than $300 and one count of conspiracy to commit (felony).
In a statement sent to Newsweek Rep. Boebert said: "I love my son Tyler, who has been through some very difficult, public challenges for a young man and the subject of attention that he didn't ask for. It breaks my heart to see my child struggling and, in this situation, especially when he has been provided multiple opportunities to get his life on track. I will never give up on him and I will continue to be there for him.
"As an adult and father, Tyler will take responsibility for his actions and should be held accountable for poor decisions just like any other citizen."

In March 2023, Boebert announced that Tyler, then aged 17, was about to have a child with his then girlfriend.
Tyler sparked controversy in September 2022 after crashing his father's SUV aged 17, causing injuries to 19-year-old passenger Noble D'Amato that he claimed prevented him from becoming a professional welder.
Initially Tyler was given a ticket for "careless driving causing bodily injury" and ordered to appear in court but this was later downgraded to a defective headlights ticket following a plea deal.
Speaking to Denver news site Westword, D'Amato later claimed the Boebert family was trying to "hide the fact that I was injured. They just don't give a f***."
In January Jayson Boebert, Lauren Boebert's ex-husband, was arrested on six charges including prohibited use of weapons, third-degree assault, and obstructing a peace officer. It followed reports of a physical altercation between the two at a restaurant in the town of Silt.
In a statement provided to Newsweek following the incident, Boebert said: "This is a sad situation for all that keeps escalating and another reason I'm moving. I didn't punch Jayson in the face and no one was arrested. I will be consulting with my lawyer about the false claims he made against me and evaluate all of my legal options."
Boebert and a male companion caused a scandal in September when they were told to leave a performance of musical Beetlejuice after repeatedly vaping and "causing a disturbance." Footage later emerged of Boebert and her male accomplice groping each other during the show. In response Boebert released a statement apologizing for her actions, which she said "fell short of my values."
Update 2/29/24 6:40 a.m. ET: This story has been updated with a statement from Rep. Boebert.
