The internet has praised a man who stepped in during a fight between a man and woman in a London street, only to realize that he was on a film set.

On August 24, singer Aistè, who goes by the name aistemusic on TikTok, shared the video on the social-media site where it has since been viewed more than 25 million times.

Shared with the caption, "What a legend," the video shows how an independent film crew was shooting a scene on the streets of London. A couple is seen having an argument, and the man shoves the woman at the wall.

Independent film has seen a significant decline in recent years, partially attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic shifting cinema releases to favor big blockbusters. Because of increasing costs, it has been reported that indie distributors are still trying to find release space for movies that were first planned for 2020.

The film, not named in the video, was being recorded in a London street late at night, with crew and equipment around, but all of this went unnoticed to a man who has been hailed a "legend" for his reaction.

As the actors work through the scene of the couple's argument, the passerby notices the commotion and, without hesitation, rushes to the woman's aid.

"Oi, oi, calm down," he shouts as the crew turns quickly to see him walking toward the scene. As he steps further toward the actors, he has a moment of realization once he sees the lights and filming equipment and the surrounding crew break out in laughter.

He starts to laugh, and the crew applaud him for his quick reaction as he walks away down the road.

With more than 12,000 comments, TikTok users rushed to cheer the man's actions.

"I love that he didn't notice the crew because he saw someone who he thought needed help first," wrote one commenter.

Another TikToker commented: "Fair play to be honest. He just saw a woman in danger, wanted to help and didn't see see anything else and apologized for his mistake."

While the situation in question was fictional, there is a very serious reality behind it. The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV) reports that one in three women and one in four men have experienced some form of physical violence by an intimate partner. On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by a partner in the U.S., which equates to more than 10 million people a year.

"No embarrassment or judgement," wrote another commenter: "Full respect to this person."

Another TikTok user said: "I think it's awesome he was ready to defend her. Well done."
