How Many Episodes Will 'The Legend of Vox Machina' Have and When Will They Be Out?

Critical Role is heading to the small screen in animated form with the new series The Legend of Vox Machina.

The animated series, which is being released on Prime Video, follows the troupe of Vox Machina and their various quests around Exandria.

Starring original Critical Role members Sam Riegel, Travis Willingham, Taliesin Jaffe, Laura Bailey, Liam O'Brien, Marisha Ray, Ashley Johnson and Matthew Mercer, the show recreates their first Dungeons & Dragons campaign.

How Many Episodes Will There Be in The Legend of Vox Machina?

The Legend of Vox Machina tells the origin story of the eponymous crew of misfits turned mercenaries for hire, and it will follow their quest to rid their kingdom of various evil presences.

Vox Machina comprises gnome bard Scanlan Shorthalt (Riegal), goliath barbarian Grog Strongjaw (Willingham), human gunslinger Percival de Rolo (Jaffe), twin half-elf rangers Vex'ahlia (Bailey) and Vax'ildan (O'Brien), half-elf druid Keyleth (Ray), and gnome cleric Pike Trickfoot (Johnson).

The show will feature 12 episodes in its first season, and Amazon Studios has already ordered an additional 12 episodes for a second season.

The Legend of Vox Machina was originally intended to be a 22-minute animated special that the Critical Role creators chose to fund through Kickstarter.

It received huge support from fans of the original web series and podcast, who are aptly titled Critters, and the Kickstarter campaign earned more than $11 million.

Thanks to fan support, the show was extended to a 10-episode season. When Amazon Studios picked up the show, this was increased again to 24 episodes over the course of two seasons.

When Will Episodes of The Legend of Vox Machina Be Released?

Episodes of The Legend of Vox Machina will be released exclusively on Prime Video, and available in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

The series will launch on the streaming platform on Friday, January 28, with the release of its first three episodes.

Afterward, episodes will be released in batches of three on a weekly basis, so episodes four to six will come out on February 4 and seven to nine on February 11, with the final three airing on February 18.

Prime Video has yet to confirm when Season 2 will be released.

The Legend of Vox Machina launches on Prime Video on Friday, January 28, with its first 3 episodes.
