The owners of a "Let's Go Brandon" themed store recently opened up in New Jersey have hit out at Facebook for flagging a post announcement—reporting its opening—for alleged vaccine misinformation.
Speaking to Fox News' Jeanie Pirro, who took over hosting Laura Ingraham's show on Monday, Gregory Dooner and Vinny Scuzzese described why they decided to open up a store based on the Republican catchphrase used to attack President Joe Biden.
The pair were also asked about a recent report from The Washington Examiner, which described how Facebook flagged a post promoting the opening of the store in Toms River, New Jersey, for alleged vaccine misinformation, despite not mentioning anything related to COVID-19.
The store sells Donald-Trump based merchandise, some of which include the popular right wing slogan "Let's Go Brandon" which conservatives use as a direct replacement for the "f**k Joe Biden" chant which was being heard at major events late last year.
Pirro asked the owners if they "expected" Facebook to take such actions in an apparent reference to claims pushed by right-wing figures that conservative voices are censored on social media.
"Not at all, but they let [Russian president Vladimir] Putin stay on Instagram and Twitter," Scuzzese said. "What's up with that?"
Scuzzese made the remake despite the fact Putin is not on Instagram and Russia restricting the app, along with Facebook, for its citizens in the wake of its invasion of Ukraine.
On Monday, a Russian court banned Facebook and Instagram after accusing them of "carrying out extremist activities."
Russia had previously accused Meta, the parent company of Facebook, of violating "the rights and freedoms of Russian citizens," by censoring posts published from its state media news websites.
Elsewhere during the Fox News interview, Dooner described how the "Let's Go Brandon" store is aimed at America's "freedom-loving patriots."
"I love Donald Trump, okay. He was the best thing for us," Dooner said. "Things aren't so good now, but we're going to make it better with the support of everyone.
"Let's do this thing, let's go to the polls," Dooner added. "Let's get both these guys out there. Even the RINOs [Republicans in name only]. I'm sorry to say it, but that's the way it is."
The "Let's Go Brandon" catchphrase originates from NASCAR racer Brandon Brown being interviewed NBC Sports reporter Kelli Stavast following his victory at the Talladega Superspeedway in October 2021.
During the interview, a section of the crowd was chanting "f**k Joe Biden" which was picked up on camera during the broadcast. Stavast referenced the chant during the broadcast but stated that they were actually singing: "Let's Go Brandon" in support of Brown.
