On Monday, Lincoln Motor Company announced a concept SUV in a collaboration with Shinola, a luxury goods seller. The two Detroit-area brands have designed and crafted the Lincoln Aviator Shinola SUV concept vehicle.

Shinola, which takes its name from the erstwhile shoe polish company, makes bicycles, watches and other products. After visiting the Shinola showroom in Detroit, Lincoln designers set out to incorporate the design elements they found into a unique theme. The company says that the result is a mix of Lincoln design principles and Shinola's modern aesthetic.

"After our initial meeting with the Lincoln team, it was clear we shared the same passion for well-designed, beautifully crafted products," Shinola CEO Shannon Washburn said in a press release. "Designers from both brands came together to create an ultra-luxe vehicle that still embodies Shinola's aesthetic of approachable luxury with thoughtful details."

After experimenting with different colors, the design team landed on a soft white exterior with hints of blue, inspired by Shinola's mother of pearl stone watch dials. Copper accents also feature.

The 2022 Lincoln Aviator comes equipped with a 3.0-liter V8 engine and gets anywhere from 400 to 494 horsepower depending on trim level.

The seats come wrapped in creme suede that are matched by the inserts, giving off a pearl hue that matches the exterior color. Taking inspiration from Shinola's brand stripe, a woven textile is sewn into the seats in all three rows. To create the look, a Lincoln designer took each stitch of the original stripe then scaled to proportion, adding a blue tone that hews toward the Lincoln brand.

"The goal is to impress occupants with our very own expression of craftsmanship, showcasing our meticulous attention to detail," Lincoln designer Liam Butler said in a press release. "This stripe is unlike anything I've ever seen sewn into a vehicle, so we wanted to make sure it was done with care."

Woven metal mesh with the same copper accents featured on the exterior appears on the instrument panel and the second-row console. Nearly every surface is wrapped with soft materials designed to evoke a warm and inviting feeling.

A base model Aviator starts at $51,465. Lincoln will not sell the concept vehicle however it can be seen later this month at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
