Lindsay Lohan has called out Tina Fey while discussing a possible Mean Girls sequel on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The film premiered in 2004 and quickly developed a cult following. In its first weekend, the movie grossed $24.5 million and, worldwide, that total now stands at more than $130 million.

During an appearance on the talk show on Thursday, November 10, The Parent Trap actress, 36, said she would be open to starring in a follow-up.

"Any Mean Girls 2?" host Jimmy Fallon, 48, asked Lohan.

"I think that's in Tina Fey's hands and Lorne Michaels," she laughed, referring to the writer and producer of the film.

Fallon then turned toward the camera and said to Saturday Night Live alum Fey: "Tina, I know you're watching. Let's make that happen."

This isn't the first time Lohan talked about a possible sequel. In 2020, she chatted with the comedian David Spade on his Lights Out talk show about it.

"I should probably get back to doing movies at some point. I think I was hanging on to [Mean Girls] for a really long time," she told the Grown Ups actor, 58, at the time.

"I wanted to come back with a Mean Girls 2. To work with Tina [Fey], and the whole crew again, and [director] Mark Waters. That was really what I wanted. I was excited to do that," she said, adding, however, that she has no control over whether or not it happens.

"But that's all in their hands, really. So that would definitely be an exciting thing."

Technically, fans already have a Mean Girls 2. In 2011, the ABC Family original movie premiered with an entirely new cast, and the only character to reprise their role was Tim Meadows, who played Principal Duvall.

Over the years, the original movie has become such a phenomenon that Mean Girls even made it to Broadway. The first performance took place in October 2017, premiered on Broadway in April 2018, and ended in March 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic. That being said, fans can still catch the musical on its North American Tour.

Though Lohan had taken a step back from Hollywood, she returned to acting with Netflix's Falling for Christmas.

"I just felt like it was time, and it was just a matter of time before I found the right script and I found it with Falling for Christmas," Lohan told Yahoo Entertainment on Thursday. "It just worked out perfectly."

Lohan stars in the romantic comedy as Sierra Belmont, an heiress who is diagnosed with amnesia following a skiing accident. Glee star Chord Overstreet, 33, appears alongside her as lodge owner, Jake Russell.

"I feel really blessed," Lohan added in her interview with Yahoo. "It's all been a lot of fun."

Falling for Christmas premiered on Netflix on November 10.
