Lindsay Lohan and Netflix have struck a deal which will mean viewers can expect to see a lot more of her in the next few years.

The actress, singer and entrepreneur starred in a string of hit movies in the noughties but has taken a step away from the limelight over the past decade, instead focusing on her business ventures. She hasn't starred in a film since 2019 but is now lined up to appear in three consecutive Netflix movies.

In recent years Lohan has appeared as herself on the likes of Celebrity Watch Party, The Masked Singer Australia and she has had a couple of reality shows including 2019's Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club. Lohan shared details of her upcoming deal on social media, which will see the former child star return to acting.

Lindsay Lohan's Next Projects

Lohan's most recent acting credit is from an episode of the adult cartoon comedy Devil May Care but before that it was the starring role in the critically panned 2019 movie Among the Shadows. In the fantasy crime drama Lohan played vampire Patricia Sherman who eventually becomes President.

Lohan is set to return to movies with an upcoming Christmas film on Netflix. She has a lead role in the festive romcom, Falling for Christmas, which is likely to drop towards the end of 2022 on the streaming service. Speaking to Vogue about the film in February, Lohan said, "I feel like what we don't have enough of right now is romantic comedies. And that's exactly what it is: It's a really fun, uplifting romantic comedy. And it's actually really funny."

The plot of Falling for Christmas sees a newly engaged, spoiled hotel heiress get amnesia after a skiing accident. She awakes to find herself in the care of a blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas.

The decision-makers at Netflix must have liked what they saw as they progressed to sign Lohan up for a further two-picture deal. Netflix announced the news with a statement and Lohan shared the news on her social media accounts, writing "Exciting things to come."

There is currently no information suggesting what the following two movies will be about but Netflix is pleased with the deal. Christina Rogers, the streaming service's Director of Independent Film said, "We're so happy with our collaboration with Lindsay to date, and we're thrilled to continue our partnership with her.

"We look forward to bringing more of her films to our members around the world."

As well as her return to the big screen, Lohan has also secured a deal to start a podcast with Red Arrow's Studio 71. Announced in October 2021, her untitled podcast was tentatively slated for a late 2021 or early 2022 release but no further announcements have been made.

After the news was announced, Lohan said on her Instagram, "I'm looking forward to connecting with more of my fans and having intimate conversations with friends and thought leaders across all industries."
