South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham warned former President Donald Trump that losing the 2024 election could alter the way history views his time in office.

"I'm literally telling you what I tell him," Graham told CNBC. "If you lose again, the history about who you are and what you did dramatically changes."

Trump has yet to announce a 2024 run; however, speaking on a July episode of The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show, the former president said it would be "very hard" for him not to run and that some polling indicates it would be "easy" for him to win, suggesting that an official announcement could be coming soon.

According to Graham, here's what Trump might say if he decides to run again:

"Remember me? I may not be your cup of tea, but when I was president, our border was secure, we had the lowest illegal crossings in 40 years. I did it. When I was president, I stood up to China and they listened. When I was president, we had the strongest military since Ronald Reagan. When I was president, I destroyed the caliphate. When I was president, we had conservative judges, not liberal judges."

Graham told CNBC that a Trump victory would be "one of the greatest political comebacks in American history" and allow the former president to "do big stuff."

Newsweek has reached out to Graham's office for comment.

Speaking at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, Trump said the country is "going to hell" and called President Joe Biden an "enemy of the state."

"He's an enemy of the state, you know that?" Trump said of Biden. "The enemy of the state is him and the group that control him, which is circling around him. 'Do this. do that, Joe; you're going to do this, Joe.'

"Instead of trying to demonize half of the population, Biden and congressional Democrats should focus on stopping the killing and the bloodshed in Philadelphia and every other Democrat-run city in America where record death and destruction is taking place every single day," Trump added.

Trump told rally-goers they "must vote Republican" if they want to "stop this destruction of America," adding that he may "just have to" run again.

"We're leading Biden, and everyone else including the Republicans, by record numbers in the polls," he said.

"So I may just have to do it again. You'll be starting to have to do it again... but first, we have to win a historic victory for the Republican Party this November."
