Months ahead of his unexpected death, Luke Perry one said at New York Comic Comic in October 2018 he was interested in having a Beverly Hills, 90210 reunion on Riverdale.

Perry, 52, played Fred Andrews on the popular CW series. Fred was the father to KJ Apa's Archie Andrews and the former spouse to Molly Ringwald's Mary Andrews.

Perry spoke with reporters about what's to come throughout Riverdale Season 3 during a roundtable session at NYCC. When asked if Perry would want a 90210 reunion on Riverdale, he said enthusiasm about the possibility and shared how he had already pitched the idea before.

"I have talked to them about a way to do that. I would. I would actually love it. I think that it would just blow people's minds and I have an idea about it and it's something that we've talked about," he told Newsweek at the time.

Perry then suggested his idea wasn't meant to dictate any decisions Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa had in mind, adding: "But having said that, I would never presume to tell Roberto his job. He's so good at it. I really do appreciate being in a situation where I have a showrunner that I have 100 percent confidence in. Having said that, if you ever need ideas, Roberto, I got one."

Perry died on Monday after suffering from a massive stroke last Wednesday. The actor's publicist confirmed the sad update to BuzzFeed News. "The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning," the statement read.

Perry was hospitalized after paramedics responded to a call from his home in Sherman Oaks, California. TMZ and The Blast published audio of his 911 call, which featured the word "stroke" being mentioned. His rep previously confirmed to Newsweek that the actor was "under observation at the hospital" and "not in a coma."

On the day of his stroke, it was announced that a Beverly Hills, 90210 revival show would arrive on Fox this coming summer. Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green and Tori Spelling will reprise their roles in the new show. Perry, however, was never signed on to partake in the project. Like Perry, former co-star Shannen Doherty had no plans to be on the show either.

While Perry never intended to star in the 90210 revival show, he's participated in mini-reunions before. Perry appeared in three episodes of Garth's former WB series What I Like About You in 2005. He played Todd, a plumber who briefly dated Garth's character Val Tyler. Priestley also made a guest appearance on What I Like About You in 2005 where he played Charlie, a man who was obsessed with Garth's Val.

Despite this brief reunion, Priestley told Us Weekly in 2008 that Perry would never join a revival show, saying: "I can honestly tell you that Luke has no interest in coming back to the show."
