A man broke into a sleeping woman's home, got in bed with her and then fled the scene when she woke up, police in Ohio have said.

Joshua Alan Strohsack, 24, is alleged to have broken into a house on Central Parkway Avenue in the city of Warren.

Police were called to the home around 8:30 a.m. on Monday, May 24, and spoke with a woman who told them she had woken up to find the man tugging on her bed sheets, before rolling over to see him lying in bed next to her, WKBN reported.

The woman reportedly told officers that he had cut open the screen of the storm door on the home and unlocked it in order to enter the property.

He told the woman that he just wanted to talk and ran out of the home after she yelled at him, according to the police report cited by WKBN.

The woman also reportedly told officers that the man had used her tube of petroleum jelly, which was found on the floor without the lid, and had abandoned his Converse shoes in her hallway.

Strohsack is believed to have known the woman's next-door neighbor and to have occasionally stayed at the house next door. The evening before the alleged incident, Strohsack came to the neighbor's home but was asked to leave because his friend was going to bed, according to the police report.

The woman also told police that a few weeks earlier, Strohsack had knocked on her door at around 9 p.m. and asked to come inside and talk, but she had refused to let him in.

After receiving a call that Strohsack had returned to Parkway Avenue near the woman's home, the 24-year-old was arrested by police around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 29.

He was booked into Trumbull County Jail and charged with burglary, inmate records show. He is currently being held without bond.

Strohsack has a number of previous charges for drug possession dating back to 2016, according to records from Trumbull County Sheriff's Office.

Last month, a couple in Michigan woke up in shock after a woman broke into their house in the early hours and climbed into their bed.

The couple, who live in the Quincy Township in Houghton County, told investigators that the 22-year-old woman had got into their bed at around 2 a.m. on April 13, and refused to leave.

The woman, from Jonesville, seemed to be inebriated and believed it was her own home.

Police said the couple managed to force her out of their Maple Road house without using the gun they had in the home. The 22-year-old, who has not been named, then drove away in her car.
