The term "scaredy cat" is defined by Merriam Webster as an "unduly fearful person." However, a cat on Instagram has recently personified the phrase.

In a sweet video posted by Harry Jackson, 27, to Instagram, Lippy, a 13-year-old tabby cat can be seen being comforted by him as he explains that "she's been a bit scared today because of the rain."

"When it rains outside she becomes extra clingy to the point she won't want me to put her down," Jackson, from Derby, England, told Newsweek. "So I wrapped her in my coat to make her feel more protected."

In the video, which has over 146,500 likes, Jackson buttons up his coat around Lippy, as he tells her to hold on with her back feet. At one point she is completely curled up in his coat, looking relaxed.

Jackson told Newsweek that Lippy has always been affectionate so their close relationship came naturally, and he started making videos for social media featuring her around three to four years ago just before the COVID-19 lockdown.

"Her personality is very unique to what I've seen from other cats. She would ride on my shoulders all day if she could," Jackson said. "She never bites or scratches anybody and is very confident when she meets somebody new. She's very social, when she hears me walking around she will come out to investigate."

Jackson never expected the videos to become as popular as they are.

"I uploaded a random video one day and it reached over one million views." he said. "From there I realized that people liked seeing how clingy she is so I carried on making content.

"I think people like the videos as they don't typically see men having a bond with a cat. I think it's something that is acceptable and want people to realize it's OK to show that side of you."

While Jackson managed to calm Lippy down during the rain, some cats develop strong fears of extreme weather, especially thunderstorms.

"A phobia of thunderstorms, sometimes called astraphobia, is an irrational and extreme fear response to the presence of a storm," says pet advice site WagWalking. "This phobia can be seen in some cats. It can be harmful to the cat as the phobias can turn into terror, abnormal reactions, and high stress levels. Thunderstorm phobias may intensify with each storm experience."

Treatments include anti-anxiety and antidepressant medication, says WagWalking, as well as desensitization.

"Desensitizing is the gradual retraining of a cat to become familiarized with storm sounds," WagWalking says. "Recordings of storms may be played from time to time in each room of the home. If the cat remains calm throughout the storm noises, reward it. This therapy works if the phobia has to do with the sounds of the storm only."

Instagram users loved the video.

"That's it!! To hell with guys with dogs. It's about cat dad life!!," said one.

"So many green flags," wrote another.

A different viewer commented: "I want to submit my application to be that cat."
